Any other Class of '17 hopefuls?

Hey!!! I applied ED to Midd for the class of 2017 and I hope to get some good news on Saturday!!! If I get into Midd this Saturday though, I am IMMEDIATELY deferring to the class of 2018 to pursue a gap year program in Latin America.
I’m from Los Angeles, CA, and I go to a large, competitive public school in the city.
I never got contacted for an interview, which makes me nervous because I live in such a big city.
Midd is my #1 #1 choice, although it is a reach. I scored a 2130 on the SAT (almost perfect in writing and math, but low in reading), and I have moderately high subject test scores (780 in math, 650 in history, and 620 in Spanish). I have a 3.7 unweighted GPA in a very demanding curriculum.
I am VERY proud of the essays I wrote, and I hope it’ll make up for some of my lower stats. I LOVE to write. I hope my extracurriculars and life experiences will also help make up for my lower stats. I LOVE traveling and LIVE out of my backpack every single summer. I’ve traveled to Asia, Africa, and Latin America throughout high school and have gained so much outlook on the rest of the world. I chose Midd for my ED school because it is a global college from the inside out.

I HOPE TO GET GOOD NEWS THIS SATURDAY. THE ANTICIPATION IS KILLING ME. I HOPE TO GET ACCEPTED or at LEAST deferred so the dream will live on.

Wow, that’s so cool that you’ve been able to travel to all of those places! And at such a young age, too  I’m wishing you good luck this weekend - and the rest of us!

Waiting is definitely the hardest part. Is anyone doing anything in particular to help pass the time? I’ve been working on the Christmas presents that I’m making for my family this year and trying to get around to at least a couple of the books I’ve been meaning to read  Only a few days left but it seems like forever!

Just trying to pass Calculus with a somewhat presentable grade…
:frowning: this class is a toughie!!! for me.

I feel you bro… Calc was awful last year. I barely escaped with a B- (although I blame that on the teacher as the AP test went well).

Math is ALWAYS tough for me at school. I have NEVER gotten an A in math EVER in high school (most of the time I’m borderline B and C, although I’ve always ended up getting a B-), but I passed the SATs with FLYING colors, so that makes up for it…a little.

Good luck everybody! This wait is seriously destroying me.

Math has always been the hardest subject for me, too. My SAT scores were great with math as the exception. I was okay with math until I got to geometry, and then it all started to fall apart.

Only 4 days left! This wait is so stressful. I’ve been finishing up my list of other colleges to apply to but I really hope that won’t be the case!

I’m applying RD and I noticed that the supplement asks if you have visited the campus. How much will it hurt my chances if I haven’t visited?

Hmm, I wouldn’t think it matters much. They probably just want to get an idea of how many applicants visit. It wouldn’t be fair to give an advantage to those who have visited, as many can’t due to distance, money, etc.

Having visited or not visited is not too big a deal. It can become an issue if you live really far from or really close to campus. If you live in Hong Kong, but you’ve been to campus that can look really good. If you live in Burlington, VT, but you’ve never been to campus, that could look pretty bad.

What are everyone’s stats (SATs, GPA) looking like?

alright thanks guys!

Hi guys!! I’m Amanda and I’m applying ED2 to Midd.(international applicant)
Midd is absolutely my FIRST choice.
I love the language programs there and that’s why Midd is my dream. (I can speak Chinese, English, Korean and a little Japanese, and start to study biblical Hebrew.)
One Midd’s International AO came to my school this April. I’m his assistant and translator.
We had a great time in that visit and he told my counsellor that I’m impressive. Hope he still remembers me HAHA.
I’m proud of my essays and EC but kinda worry about my SAT score cuz my verba is only around 650  (M800/W700) So, is this verbal score going to hurt my app??

Hi Amanda! I love Midd because of the language programs too, although I don’t know quite as many languages yet! That’s impressive :)

Less than 24 hours, guys!!

Are decisions out for ED1?

No, check online.

Best of Luck to everyone waiting hopefully for good news tomorrow morning. Hoping to see lots of acceptances. But remember: While Midd is a great school, there are indeed others. And whatever you do, whether rejected OR accepted, never assume there is only one right road for you.

This said… I do so hope my friend’s son is accepted!!!

Hi! I applied ED 1 to middlebury and i am freaking out!! anyone else applying and feeling nervous/excited?

I’m super nervous. Only some hours left to go! I’m scared that I won’t get a decision at all since I had a problem with the ED agreement… An admissions counselor told me it would be fine so I hope that’s true!

I’m going to bed (nice and early so I can wake up at 5 to check online!) but good luck everyone! Hopefully we can all come back to this thread in the morning with great, exciting news! :)

Also, if anyone sees this soon - when you go online to check your application, does it still say “under review” for application status or has it been updated to something else? Mine still says “under review”, which is why I’m worried…
