I think considering your major, or anticipated major (these things certainly can change), recs from those teachers sound great. The instructions for applications just say to choose two teachers from different subjects, so history and government are kinda different and you also are getting the additional one from your journalism teacher. So, all good.

I'm a bit concerned because I just got my quarter grades - the ones to send in for ED - and I have a B+ in AP Calc and a B in AP Bio. I have strong A's in every other class - AP Lit, AP Lang, and French, and I will still have a 4.0 due to the weighting system. I have strong test scores, strong essays, great recs, and strong extracurriculars. I've also visited twice and had a good interview. Will those B's have a major impact?

I actually have the same issue. I'm probably going to end the quarter with a B/B- in AP Calc (bad, I know, I just haven't had a good quarter and we've only had 2 tests which are all of our grade right now), but should have strong As in everything else, all APs (maybe an A- in English).

I'm hoping it won't make much of a difference (considering my transcript, school's record as extremely competitive, etc.)...

Hah, AP calc is also hard for me (I'm right on the edge of a B+ I'm pretty sure and grades close on Halloween so hopefully I can hang on). I wouldn't worry though. If you have a solid 3 years behind you, they won't reject you just because you have a B in a class for the first quarter. I think Barnard would understand the stress level for a high school senior.

I just sent in my application! It was an emotionally trying experience, but I'm glad it's done.:p Now 6 weeks and 4 days of waiting...

My math grade is now borderline B/B+ and if I do well on out next test I could get it up to a solid B+ by the end of the quarter. I feel better.:D One B+ certainly won't kill my chances...

i'm applying ED! calc is okay for me, but i am seriously struggling with AP spanish..anyone else finding it difficult?

I have an amazing AP Spanish teacher, so it's been okay for me...plus I LOVE Spanish, but it's definitely a ton of work...

I don't know about you guys, but this year is just so much more work than I expected it to be!

I feel the same way, fhg! What happened to senior year being the easiest and most fun?

I'm just thankful I took Calc at a community college over the summer. Otherwise, I'd die!

first quarter grades finally came out for me - woo, i did well in calc!!!! that's a weight off my shoulders.

Does Barnard require that you send your first quarter grades?

I believe so. My school does automatically, so I'm not totally sure.

I'm okay with my first quarter grades, not so happy with my B in Calc because I KNOW it could have been better (it's borderline too, 86, with one more test I could have gotten it up...not complaining though, I had a C a month or so ago!), but the rest should be good...unless my English teacher decides to kill me on our last paper. Which, knowing her, is a realistic possibility...

yes, they require 1st quarter grades. I called the admissions office.

:( idk what to do. i got a b in ap spanish and most likely have a b+ in ap english.... my spanish teacher was so mean about it too. i had an 86.49. .01 higher and i would have had a b+..

It should be fine. As long as you maintain high grades (a couple of Bs are okay), I'm sure it won't matter as long as you have 3 strong years behind you. In my opinion, one or two Bs actually shows that you're human in the midst of all of the senior stress.

yes, i wouldn't worry about it! i'm sure the people in admissions will be very understanding - it's really hard to juggle a tough class schedule and college applications

Sent in my app today! Such a sense of relief...

Last piece of the puzzle though - do schools usually automatically send AP scores? I know I can rush the scores if I have to, but my counselor was unclear.

Are quarter grades included in the transcript?
How do we go about sending in quarter grades?
I'm so confused!

In my daughter's experience the Barnard admissions office will call if they're interested.

Well, we've made it to the ED deadline! I submitted my app over 2 weeks ago, but am still pretty nervous today...the waiting period really begins today. 1 month from today we'll have an answer.
