hello! I know there are probably not a lot of transfer students looking on this forum but, I was wondering if anyone who has transferred or knows of anyone that has transferred to UD in the past could help me out! UD is my top choice. I was wondering what previous gpas transfer students had who were admitted and how many credits. I will have 30 credits at the end of my semester with around a 3.56 gpa. Also not sure if it helps but my mother is a legacy of the school. I know online UD says they prefer 60 credits but I don’t know if not having 60 will completely ruin my chances. If anyone who was previously admitted as a transfer student or knows anyone could share their stats with me I would appreciate it so much!
Are you OOS or in-state? Are you currently attending another 4 year college (which one) or attending a CC? Have you previously applied to UD and, if so, what was the decision?
@Mwallenmd I am a OOS student located in Jersey at a well credited CC… My counselor told me there are many students admitted into UD from my school. I have not applied to UD before because, I never realized how much I loved the school until I visited a couple months ago. I tried looking up the average transfer gpa accepted but could not find anything. I am hoping previous admitted transfer students could give me a range as to where I fall. I also have volunteer work, clubs, I am a legacy of the school, and two jobs so I am not sure if that will help?
Sorry, one more question. Do you have a particular major in mind?
@Mwallenmd yes either the medical diagnostics program or Biological sciences!
IMHO you have a reasonably decent chance of being accepted to UD as a transfer student. Your GPA is excellent. Many of the students I have seen transfer into UD after one year of college tend to have GPA’s of around 3.3 or higher so you are in great shape there. The majors you are interested in tend to be competitive but I think you should be OK. With your mom being a UD alum this also should help. I would just follow-up with you CC counselor and follow any recommendations that person can give you. Best of luck.
@Mwallenmd thanks so much! I will definitely send an update with the outcome! Fingers crossed!
@mwallenmd I see that you post and know a lot of information about UD. I was wondering if you knew if being waitlisted last year would affect my chances of getting in as a Transfer Student? Thank you!
I don’t have a definite answer to your question but please make sure you note this on your transfer application. It would be my personal perspective that it should be helpful. It was really unfortunate that last year UD could not take in any students off the waitlist (for the reasons I am sure you already are aware of). “Perhaps” they might take this into consideration. You obviously met the standards for admission to UD last year, they just didn’t have enough spots. Best of luck this time around. As long as your grades are very good at your current school I would be very surprised if you were not accepted for transfer (obviously no guarantee).
