rablinh— I don’t believe that international students are eligible for financial aid? I think they are eligible for merit scholarships only, but I don’t know an internationals that received one. I suggest calling the FA office and asking. I’m sorry.

maryt487— Zero chance. Pepperdine does not offer full rides. The most you can get is 75% tuition, not including room and board and other expenses. With that SAT, you would not get that scholarship either. My guess is you would get the one below it.

dylman— I think you have great chances. Pepperdine takes CoC affiliation into consideration, which helps. Try retaking the ACT, Pepperdine’s average this year is 30. Otherwise, you’ve got good odds. Make sure that you connect your experiences with your faith in your essay.

Thanks, I really hope I get accepted. I am retaking the test next month. Thanks for the advice too!

No problem, good luck!

dylman,

If you can somehow magically raise your ACT into the 31-32 range, there’s a good change you’ll get an academic scholarship plus a CoC scholarship, meaning I would be suprised if you’d be paying more than 20k a year w/o grants, work study, loans, etc.

Are there a fair amount of transfer students at Pepperdine?

I’ve applied to Pepperdine for this upcoming spring semester and was curious if there are older students around? Ill be 25 years old by the time I start.

I’ve met two freshmen in their twenties since I’ve been here.

Does everyone go to bible study or is that an optional activity?

missemily516-

Optional Bible study/small groups are available.

However, there is a required convocation component. Convocation isn’t exactly worship, it opens with a prayer and then it goes to a speaker on a specific subject. You need to attend 14 per semester for an A. You can also attend “club convos” or Bible study to satisfy the requirement.

What are your favorite aspects of the Pepperdine environment/experience?

Hi guys, I’m currently a student at a junior college and looking to transfer soon. I’ve had my sights set on Pepperdine for some time now and I want to know what you guys think about this:

GPA is about a 3.56-3.6 (I’m sure this will bump up more after this semester of 16 Units)
I do volunteer work at a local hospital.
I have a recommendation from someone who attended Pepperdine.
Never took those SAT or ACT tests.
I have visited the campus.

Had a shaky start when I first got into college, but I’ve fixed my grades up very much. Will it kill my chances if I got some F’s and W’s before? (The F’s I’ve redone since then and they are now A’s) I’m applying for the Fall of 2010.

Any suggestions would be good! I just want to get in to this lovely school very badly!!

Pepperdine is a close-knit community. You will know most of the people in your graduating class as well as many upperclassmen as a freshman, something rare at most universities. Above that, the students and faculty care. For the most part, people come to Pepperdine for the right reasons — academics, community and faith. You won’t find many drunk-on-weekdays-Cs-get-degree-ers here.
It’s not uncommon for professors to invite classes to their homes for dinner.
When it comes to integration of faith and academics, few universities can compare to Pepperdine. Students here are focused, happy and enjoy a healthy social life.

hi, i have a gpa of 3.05 and an SAT score of 1800, i am in my school’s varsity soccer team and involved in a couple other activities. Do you think I have a good chance of getting into Pepperdine?

Tev,

I’d say Pepperdine is a reach with that GPA. Waitlist is possible. So as far as “good chance”- you will want to increase the GPA to around 3.5 (Average at Pepperdine is 3.6666 unweighted?)

Why not play.

I have a 2.95UW 3.66W GPA
740M/700R/690W = 2130, only tested once
decent ec’s (church mission work in NO)
black male
east coast
ib diploma candidate

nafter,

You’re most likely in.

Hi.

I’ve been reading a lot of stuff about faith, Christianity and Church (no offense meant!). And I wanted to know that can I still apply as an Indian Hindu. I’m currently doing the IB Diploma in Hong Kong.

I’ve done various community service projects such as helping refugees with ICT, painting a school in Thailand, teaching English at a Kindergarden, etc. I’ve done work experience in NY for 2 weeks as well, and I think I’ll be getting around a 1800-1900 on the SAT. What would my chances be for a Business Major at Pepperdine?

Thanks for answering all these questions! :)

What is the bathroom situation like in the Freshmen dorms at Pepperdine? Is it a community bathroom or are there two individual bathrooms made for private use?
Thanks.

Karanz,

Pepperdine accepts people into the community from all different types of faith backgrounds. My SAT was around that level and I received admission.

Howlingwolffish,

My particular suite houses 9 people or 5 rooms. So, we have 4 rooms with 2 people in them and one additional room which houses a single resident. The single resident room has his own bathroom/shower connected to his private room. However, the remaining 8 of us share a bathroom that has 2 showers, 2 sinks, and 2 toilets. So it is a community bathroom.
