how is the Economics major at Marshall college? Is it good? Thanks

@changzd: It’s ranked #9 in the world. Your major isn’t affected by which college you were accepted to.

What are the ranks of all 6 colleges in UCSD? I heard Revelle is 1st and Sixth is 6th, but what about the rest?

Does UCSD have counselors that help you individually with your schedules and with school?

@elenkim
- The colleges are all the same. All the colleges have similar requirements, except they have a different motto. It is a matter of opinion, people just rank them depending on how they like the college, easiness of the GE’s, etc.

Each college has their own academic advisers. All you need to do is sign in at your college and they will personally help you.

@elenkim
- there isnt such thing as mere rank of colleges i guess, each has a motto and they are all different in GE concentration
- Sometimes

elenkim the colleges are pretty similar but most people say Muir/Warren are interchangeable at the top (1/2) and then 6th is likely last but I’m not sure if that’s true or not. Lots of those rankings come from rumors and stuff, although some is true

ooh that does sound pretty serious. I hope things work out for you though. My case is pretty different from yours though, since the only thing I had a mistake on was a course I was supposed to take second semester of senior year, not anything regarding reported grades. Either way I hope things all work out though. If anything I’ll see if I can just talk to someone when I visit the campus, whenever that may be. I’m sure they’d allow us to talk in person, it is probably going to be easier that way as a matter of fact that.

Btw I’m almost sure they send that email to everyone that reports a mistake with grades. I’m thinking it’s more of a formality than an actual response, but consequences will depend on your individual case down the road.

@spacedog: yeah i think so…but I think I should be fine because even though my quarter grades were mismatching or wrong, the overall gpa shouldn’t be too much off from the actual one…well will see what happens

to fill out the housing app, do you just log on to mytritonlink, click housing application, and just keep clicking through until it says submit? there isnt anything you have to fill out like whether you want a double or single room?

@el2369

Yeah, that’s it. They ask you about your room preferences waaay later after everyone has already submitted their SIRs.

How’s the school spirit/morale?
I heard UCSD are actually pretty self-deprecatory. :(

Does anyone know anything about the Law and Society program through Warren College?

@jsb_hbfs38: UCSD Triton spirit is not as good as it can be because people are bummed out that UCSD doesn’t have a football team and most of UCSD’s sports are in Division II. However, people are aware of this and blame the “lack” of school spirit on the lack of a football team, that they are actually petitioning for one. Who knows, maybe we will get one soon. Personally, I feel like that there is Triton spirit here. People love to wear UCSD gear and if you go to games, they are pretty spirited. People have thundersticks, and do the triton hand sign at many games. Of course, if you choose to show no school pride, you will think that there no spirit around you. But if you embrace UCSD, GO TRITONS!!

@nutmeg3975: The Law and Society program is a minor and consists of Anthropology, Communication, Critical Gender Studies, Economics, Environmental Studies, Ethnic Studies, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Urban Studies and Planning classes. If you are interested in any of those topics, it is really nice because you can dip your feet into a few of these subjects rather than just focus on one. The minor, in fact all minors, require a completion of 7 classes where usually 5 or 6 need to be upper division classes. It can be used as a replacement to one of the Programs of Concentrations GE’s.

clarkfobes would is the handsign for the Tritons?

@ spacedog: It’s like the rocker sign but you also have the middle finger up (So basically, all fingers and thumb except the ring finger up)

@clarkfobes The thumb isn’t up, it’s just the index, middle and pinky fingers up. Example:
http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs145.snc3/17234_286021539903_665924903_3274264_2452298_n.jpg

Oops sorry! My Bad

lol I knew it was that… aka the shocker…

sorry for all the questions,
the info you gave me on cogsci was amazing btw. however, just curious, are the rankings grad school specific or for undergrads as well.

i was also wondering how the dance program at sd was…
do you have any info on that?
