immytrang: early lodging, I believe is coming to UCSD a few days earlier before moving in or orientation. You gotta pay extra money to stay though, but its for people who need time to get situated.

^last year it cost $50 a day. i did it.

Ok, so i’m a high school senior and our school offers calculus through Cal state fullerton. i reported that i took it on my application as well as on my academic background that my academic advisors will see. if i were to transfer these credits then i would be exempt from math 20a and b. the thing is that for med school, i know that you need a full year of higher math and i don’t really want to take 20c,d,e. Will ucsd let me start over and just do 20a,b,c even if i have already reported that i planned on transferring the credits?

@austinhsu: No, they won’t let you take it again because you already learned the material and it’s not fair for all the students in the class who are new to the material. Also, if you take the AP Calc AB exam and get a 3 on it, you can take Math 20A, but then you would only be taking it for 2 units instead of 4 units. Math 20D-F aren’t so bad since it seems like you are good at math!

Does anyone know if we will have to call CollegeBoard to send in our AP scores from last year before July 15th, or are they automatically included with the May 2010 AP scores?

I am asking because i sent my AP scores from last year to UC davis instead of UC San Diego.

They should automatically send all your AP Scores because the score report is cumulative so it should include the scores of all the AP tests you took, just make sure that your file has all the scores of all the tests you have taken.

what is the cost of sororities? a rough estimate for a quarter.

most frats/sororities ask for like a 1 time fee of like 100$ and thats it, I don’t know about being in the frat/soro to be sure if they actually do charge a monthly fee, but I just know there is a 1 time membership fee for sure.

^That’s actually not accurate. Panhellenic sororities and IFC fraternities can range anywhere from $300-500 a quarter. This money is used for social events, chapter supplies, national headquarters, etc.

Where did you get this information? shrug

This is for frats but I assume it’s similar for sororities as well.

@Oyama, I don’t know if that was directed to me, but I’m in a sorority and thus know what my dues are. I have friends in other sororities and of course fraternities and the topic has come up from time to time. The range is $200-500. Cheaper for fraternities. Pledge quarter is always more expensive.

Sorry. ‘Quote message in reply’ fails.

I was referring to ChristianWu. Your estimate is in line with what I was paying when I was still active in a frat.

Is it hard switching from Biochem/cell bio to Biochem/chemistry major?

nope, just fill out a form and you’re in.

but i wouldn’t be so antsy to do that, especially if you’re already in an impacted major.

Hey, sorry I’m bringing this thread back up, but is it recommended to take Chem20AH
or is just Chem20A fine?

If you are good at Chem, take Chem20AH.

Hi, im gonna be an incoming freshman. I’m currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering, but I dont know if thats the major that I want to pursue for sure. Im pretty good in math, but Im only decent in physics, thats why Im thinking about majoring in something bio-related.

I’d like to know how hard is it to switch from EE to Bio?
and also I’m concerned about majoring in EE. what if i dont like it? cuz you know that they give you like a 4-year plan which advises you on what classes to take. the 4-year plan makes it seem like you’re already set in stone about what major u want and thats gonna be ur major for sure. what if i dont like EE? As an incoming freshman, should i just follow their plan for EE, or should I change it to try to take both EE classes and Bio classes? What do i do!? im concerned that when fall comes, im gonna be taking the wrong classes

uh, chem 20AH is a UCLA class. it’s called chem 6AH here.

oops. I mixed up chem 6AH and math 20A…
haha sorry >_<
