Are the other students in my classes just going to be students from the same college as me, or will there be students from other colleges as well?

there will be students from other colleges, except for your writing requirement classes

the senior requirement for UCSD… is it UC 3.0 GPA unweighted or School 3.0 GPA unweighted??

I have a question:
Is the environmental engineering program at UCSD ABET accredited? I couldn’t find that info on their engineering website, so I’m starting to think it isn’t. Does this mean I shouldn’t major in that? I’m confused. :/

@ figuresk8ting

the environ E is not accredited yet, but it is still a hot major to go into because of the high chances to get into research and it is extremely new in the frontier of engineering concerning the environment (redundant :P). Plus it is a hotspot now for that type of engineering.

@Christian- Thanks for answering. Do you think it will be accredited soon? Because I’ve been told it’s hard to get a job if your major wasn’t accredited. But the research opportunities are really appealing.

The 3.0 GPA requirement for incoming freshmans. Does it include elective courses as well? such as 3D graphics design, art, etc.

^What is “freshmans”?

Is there any way of knowing whether UCSD has received the financial aid Verification Worksheet? I sent it in a week before the deadline, but the status on my tritonlink still says to turn it in before the May 1st…

Also, how easy is it for transfers to enroll in classes for Fall? I know current UCSD students are enrolling for fall classes right now, but transfers won’t get to enroll until much later. Will I be unable to get certain classes that I need (such as O. Chem)?

Thanks!

@ash0515 Go to [UC San Diego Current Students](Current Students) click “Financial Aid” on the sidebar. Log-in. Select the year for which you would like to view (2010-2011). If they have received the worksheet, it will most likely be checked off in the checklist. Other than that, there is no way for you to check unless you call the financial aid office.

Not sure. But if you don’t get into certain classes you need, there’s other classes that you could take anyhow.

Hi I am an incoming freshmen and I have a question about online purchases. Say I would like to buy books online, how would that process work? Do I send the books to an address on campus, or must I send it back home and manually pick it up from there or such?

^You can send them to your campus address.

How can I check if a course I take this summer at a local community college can transfer for credit to UCSD?

check assist.org or go to academic advising

Are the summer orientations (the ones that are 2-days long and cost $140) mandatory? What if I want to save money and not go to those?

you have to go to one orientation. it says it all on the site (newstudent.ucsd.edu).

is a finals schedule with 3 exams on the Monday of finals week completely crazy? :P

I’m thinking yes :(

^Depends on what they are in. Honestly, assuming you’ve been studying throughout the year you shouldn’t have too much trouble. If you’re the one who likes to cram everything, it’ll probably suck then.

what does “early lodging” mean?

@KingsElite - thanks.
