Any Questions about UCSD?

Freshmen register the last week in August.

I believe I read that appointment times are posted August 19th but double check on tritonlink.

August 2: enrollment times are posted
August 19: counselor’s course recs are posted
August 31-Sept 5: enrollment period

^Thanks  I knew something happened on the 19th hahaha

Hahaha! No problem.
Fo sho! You were definately close. :))

Have any of you guys taken intro to communications? I was thinking about taking it, but there is only one teacher this quarter and I heard they’re bad.

@graciee I just wanted to say thank you! I was so confused about when we’d get course recs

Do you know if we’re getting in via e-mail or if we need to find it on our TritonLink?

pinkberry: no problem! I think we get our course recs on the newstudent website…can anybody verify?

Hi I have a question on how to schedule classes based on time? for insteance, I’m thinking of having a class 8-9:20 AM, 10-11 then another from 12-1, then 3-4. Is this bad timing??? How do you create a schedule thats best??? Thank you so much.

Is it possible to double major (Psychology and Math) and only take 4 classes a quarter with no Summer classes? Would it still be possible to do this in Revelle or ERC (or Sixth)? If I want to double major, is it imperative that Muir be my first choice? Thanks!

It’s really your personal preference. For me, I like to have my classes back to back if possible.

^I do too for commuting reasons. But even when I lived on campus, it was super awkward to have breaks like that because I just wanted to go home and nap in between. When they’re all close together it encourages me to go to all of them more often.

^Yeah I really hated the one hour breaks. Nothing productive ever came out of them.

Okay thank you so much. Ill try to get my classes close together then. thank you!

Also I have one other question…/…when is it best to plan for discussions? and what exactly are discussions in the first place?

^Discussions are small classes where you go over the course work with a TA and sometimes take quizzes. Some are mandatory and some aren’t, it depends on the professor.

hello there! I am transferring to UCSD this Fall as a Political Science major. Here are some of my questions:

-I know that I have to take POLI 30 but does it matter what quarter I take it? I read the reviews for the professor who teaching it Fall quarter and I would rather not take it with him.

-For any Poli Sci majors out there, what are some of the best Poli Sci classes you have taken? Are there any professors that have left a lasting (good or bad) impression?

-I read that Christina Schneider is new professor and I was considering taking her International Organizations seminar. Do any of you have any experience with her?

-How different are the regular lecture classes from a seminar?

-Two finals in one day?

-I am having an extremely hard time deciding whether or not to bring my car to SD. I would like to take my car but know that it will only generate more expenses for me. What have your experiences with a car been? How about without a car?

That’s it for now! Thanks.

Quick question, for the SHS site, I know we all needed to do the TB screening thing. Do we need to fill out the other three sections too?

I’m exempt from Math20A b/c of AP credit, but should I take it anyways or just move onto 20B? I’m worried I’ll struggle with the higher math classes b/c I skipped 20A. Any input would be appreciated.

98% of freshmen in math 20B in the fall quarter also got a 5 on their AP Calc exams.

you’re bound to take 20B at some point, and if you’ve already demonstrated competency via the AP exam, why are you worrying …? just pull your textbook and review for the next 1 1/2 months if you nee a refresher.

hello, going to be a freshmen at muir this fall

Im undeclared right now but I plan to become an enviro major

my class plan:

econ 2
mcwp 40 (required muir writing class)
math 20A
environmental studies 30

should I replace environmental studies with chem?

also any issues do you see with this schedule?
