any RD applicant got Likely letter ?

Just remember that CC is very not representative of (probably) the Dartmouth applicant pool. From what I've seen, many CCers have SATs and GPAs that are above the 75th percentile of Dartmouth students. Also, 75% of Dartmouth admits DON'T get a likely letter. Soo...you most definitely are not out of contention.

@goodday:
There's no way that you'd miss it...it said something like "there is no doubt you will be accepted in late March" or something like that.

i got a letter saying "very likely" that you will be accepted in march and i got an invitation to dimensions. i noticed that others said "no doubt" or stronger words. is mine a joke? because i dont feel like a very strong applicant. i had a great essay. great recs. my scores were on the low side. gpa and extra activities were pretty solid.

i know that it still sounds positive. im just a little skeptical. i think im paranoid. haha i should see a shrink

I think you're overthinking it...just accept that you got a likely. The Dimensions thing came with mine also.

Maybe they changed the wording after the first few waves?

yeah. thanks setzer557. ill accept it. :)
good luck to you in college admissions. is dart your first choice?

My purpose in writing is very simple--we have reviewed your application and think you are an outstanding prospect for Dartmouth. In fact, I recently read your file and was exceedingly impressed with your academic accomplishments and intellectual potential. There is no question that when we mail our final decisions at the end of March, you will be offered admission to the College. <---The most important paragraph.

When do we get our financial aid packages?

I think they'll be sent with the official admissions letters, which go out at the end of March.

I understand the point of likely letters just find it interesting that my daughter got accepted EA to Yale but no likely letter from Dartmouth - oh well, just a few more weeks!

^^As I've said elsewhere, I know a kid who got into both H & P and was waitlisted at D. So you really never know. Perhaps her interests spoke more to the Y adcoms.

You know, I was thinking--perhaps the earlier likely letters said "very likely" rather than "no doubt" because they hadn't had the chance to go through all the applications yet. It would be risky for them to tell people that they definitely got in when there are lots of applications that could, by some miracle, all be completely stellar. gooddaysunshin3, I would see it more as a "covering their bases" kind of thing. a likely letter is still a VERY good sign!

Cygne- thanks. uhh cant wait til the end of the month. i just wanna know for sure already! lol

cygne,
I wasnt aware that they had different wordings for these letters, but I got an early round likely and it said "no doubt".

I got a letter saying.... nothing. Because I didn't get a letter. So stop worrying about "very likely" and be EXCITED to get into Dartmouth! Congratulations :)

Hey, ChandlerBing, your letter is like my letter! ;)

Most accepted students don't get likely letters, so don't worry that you'll get shut out. My sister got one, but some people she met at Dartmouth freshman year did not. Keep the faith!

CONGRATS to everyone who has gotten likely letters. Would you keep your fingers crossed for me pleeeeeeeeeease????? ;)

question: have we come to the conclusion that all letters have been sent out more? or is there one more round?

I think there might be one more wave...but I'm not sure.

I'll cross my fingers for ya swissmiss!

fingers crossed too. good luck guys. i hope we all get in!

Thanks, Arch! I'm a nervous wreck!
