hmom is right, this is just the first wave. Likely letters will be sent through out february and march. If you do not get one, don't panic as the majority of the RD pool will not receive a likely letter.

My friend got one!!!!!

got it!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations everyone!!

lol

I already got denied and I'm still hoping for a likely letter LOL

Eph2, did you find out about the UNC scholarship thing yet?

smalllab hahahaa

does anyone know if each of the 3 "waves" is like, a different level of "likely-ness" or if it's just a big pool of likely letter recipients and they arbitrarily get one in one of the waves? in other words, if you get a letter from the first wave, does that mean anything different than getting one in the third wave?

Dartmoose, nope. I find out March 5th.

It doesn't mean anything as to what wave you get a letter.

thanks sybbie

i'm hoping for one but DEFINITELY not expecting one!

the three waves occur because they havent read all of the applications at this point in the process...applicants who receive likelies in the later waves are just as qualified as those who get it in the first wave. Anyone who gets a likely is basically in, barring some sort of extenuating circumstances (arrest, significant drop in grades, etc.)

^ arrest. hah. i wonder if that's happened before.
i would KILL for a likely letter. btw, how soon do they process alumni interview stuff? i heard that alumni had to send stuff in by feb. 15th or something (i don't know what school that was for though) so i wonder if they just ignore some of that stuff for likely letters. obviously they go out to the best and brightest though. it's not like the interview would really make a difference for those applicants.
i'm seriously so jealous of you all. :(

I got one!!!!!!!!

I wonder if these are because of academic scores, or extracurriculars, or both?

@ duckyy: Me too, I'm insanely jealous haha :(
Can anyone post what the letter looks like?
And yeah, plumsnow, I'm hoping for one but far from expecting one. I highly doubt I'll be accepted, either. But you never know.

Don't worry about the intervies, it means little to nothing. My son had his interview last year the night before he was accepted ED at 3PM!

has anyone from the midwest or west coast gotten one, or is this just east coast kids?

^ I'm in California.

oh, how I wish I would get one... CONGRATULATIONS to you ALL! just wondering--when did those of you that received one apply?

^ I submitted my Common App and Supplement on December 16th... and I'm fairly sure that my recs and such arrived before then, so yeah.

damn... that means i'm not getting one.
