Any reason to wait to enroll / Ross Preadmit?

I am definitely going to UofM.

I am still waiting on the Ross preadmit decision.

Will enrolling now help (by showing them they’re admitting someone who will go), hurt (they might not chose me because I’m already going), or not affect my decision? Thanks.

I fail to see how it can affect Ross’s decision to pre-admit you. They don’t pre-admit people as an incentive to enroll the university. Ross couldn’t care less if you came to Michigan. They have plenty of people clamoring to get in.

@ErenYeager It doesn’t impact your decision! I paid my deposit because I know even if I don’t get pre-admit, I want UofM and I’ll apply again next year in college.

If you are certain that you will come to umich, then enrolling now should not help nor hurt your chances for Ross.

If you don’t get in as a pre-admit, you still have a second chance as a regular admit. You will just need to take MATH 115, ECON 101, and some first year writing requirement course your freshman year. You will have to get at least a 3.3, including in courses you take pass/fail (they will be able to see the actual letter grade your instructor submitted to the registrar).

I echo what @umcoe16 said, but also remember getting into Ross needs a lot more than just a 3.3 GPA and the required math, econ and fywr class. You need a much higher GPA than a 3.3 to have a good chance: usually a 3.6+, and demonstrated deep involvement/leadership in some extracurriculars. On top of that, your essays need to be great. It is a tough process, and only about 37% of regular decision applicants were admitted last year, if I am not mistaken. If you do not get preferred admission, you will need to be on your A-game your freshman year.

I’m a current preadmit, and my BBA adviser mentioned this to me. The Ross admissions board checks your application separately. To the best of my knowledge, they don’t even know whether or not you’ve paid your deposit yet, so it doesn’t matter.
