OOS by the way

Not really with that GPA. Just come to Michigan if you get in and apply after freshman year. If you’re focused enough on doing well in the right classes you’ll get in. Ross admissions is way less of a crapshoot than regular college admission. If you get above a 3.6 or 3.7, are involved, and spend a lot of time on your essays, you should pretty much for sure get into Ross. The problem for most people is a significant lack of strength in one of those areas.

There is always a chance, but the odds are never good. Your GPA is not very telling. Do 3.6 students from your school usually get into top universities?

It’s a 4.2 weighted. People getting into very top schools have maybe a 4.4 - 4.5. Michigan takes a lot of kids from our school though.

I got into Michigan’s LSA Honors Program with a 4.22 weighted, 3.66 unweighted with a heavy course load. I’m OOS and from a school that receives a pretty good amount of acceptances from Michigan.

If there’s a chance that you’d be fine with going to Michigan as a non-preadmit to Ross, I wouldn’t apply as one… this is just a theory, but I feel like Michigan doesn’t want just all “Pre-Ross” applicants, so they try to look for kids who have other interests. So by applying as a pre-admit, you’d be competing with a higher and more qualified pool of kids since you’d be marked as an “intended Business Major,” something Michigan has a LOT of. Like I said, this is just my theory when it comes to applying and getting in. But if you really want to go to UMich and not just for Ross, it might help you.

soccerwolfp - do you intend to apply to Ross? Did you get recruited for soccer? what was your sat/act?

My schedule is set up so that if I do decide to apply, I will. But I am leaning more towards applying to Ford. No, I didn’t get recruited for soccer.
My ACT was 34 Math, Reading, and English. Science was a 27 (pretty weak but I’m not a science guy) so overall it was 32.
