I'm most likely going to major in political science/english.
What schools are good for those majors in my stats range?

Assuming that you wish to stay in California, the University of San Diego (USD), Santa Clara, and Loyola
Marymount would be good choices if you're looking to attend a small university (5,000-7,500 enrollment).

Well I was going to apply to UCI, UCSD, UCLA, and Cal for California schools, but I wanted to know more about privates outside of California that could be good for poli sci/english. Also I wanted to know about privates since UC's seem to be a lot more score oriented (my weak point) and privates seem to put less weight on scores (even though they're still very important).

It's difficult to make recommendations without knowing more about what you are looking for. Do you have any preferences in terms of size, location (any areas of the country you would not consider? are you open to rural, suburban, urban schools?), overall campus culture (preppy, nerdy, artsy, some mix of them all?), Greek life or no, will you need financial aid or are you hoping for merit money, any specific extracurriclars or programs you're looking for, are you looking for a research university, a comprehensive university, a liberal arts school, etc. etc. etc.

Your grades and test scores are fine - even great - for many schools, but we need to know more about what you want before we can make specific recommendations.

In regards to carolyn's post:
Location: I don't want a very rural area (so schools like UC Davis are out) but every other area is fine.
Overall campus culture: Any mix would be fine.
Greek Life: No preference really.
Financial aid: I will definitely need financial aid since all of these school outside the UC's are so darn expensive.
Extracurriculars: Political groups, maybe choral groups.

I'm not too sure which type of university I want. Both Liberal Arts and Research Universities seem to have perks of their own, so I'm open to either one. I just don't know too much about Comprehensive Universities though.

I think a big concern of mine though is social life. I don't want a school in the middle of nowhere that is all work and no play. I'm not saying that I want a total party school, but I really don't want somewhere that has next to nothing to do.

Also in regards to gusgooz1:
I know my SAT scores aren't too great right now, but I'm pretty confident that I can at least raise them to a 2000 in October and my Literature score should be hopefully up to the 650-700 range after I get my June results back.

Check out these schools: Boston U, Syracuse, Goucher, Dickinson, Lafayette, Ursinus, Villanova, Fairfield, Muhlenberg, Loyola in Maryland, American, Lake Forest (Chicago), George Washington, Lewis & Clark, University of Puget Sound, Willamette, Trinity U in Texas, Qunnipiac in CT, Bard in NY, Fordham in NY, U of Miami, Eckerd in Florida. If your scores do go up, add NYU, Macalester, Whitman, Kenyon, Bucknell.

^ True, I'm applying to both, with GWU being a match and American as a slight safety. HOWEVER, AU's International Service and Public Affairs schools' are top-notch, in the top ten in the nation...so, that's why I'm still applying.

Thanks guys! :)
I'm looking into some of these schools but so far they seem kind of religious, aha. I forgot to mention that I don't want a religious or conservative school.
