my son has a medical condition.

I am not sure about the University dorms. I believe you may request a single.

I recommend Hendrick House because I lived there and I know for a fact that you can get a single there rather easily. Hendrick House is private, family run, which does make a difference. When I lived there, it was a couple of hundred dollars more expensive than the University dorms.

It’s also just right in terms of size, not too big like ISR or Six Pack, and not too small like some of the other private housing.

There were two rooms per bathroom; the food was great, and it was a quiet place where people really buckled down and studied. If your son is looking for a party atmosphere, or a real social scene, HH may not be the best place. I made my best friends there, and we always ragged on the socially stunted “human” beings that inhabit HH to this day.

Still, for a freshman, it’s probably better to have an atmosphere of relatively quiet kids who study, because there will always be the crazy one in the group and everyone eventually lets loose.

The first floor of the new residence hall, Nugent Hall, and Beckwith Hall are specifically made for students with disabilities.
