Hi
D was wondering whether or not any spring admits who have ended up getting bumped to fall in the past did NOT send letters to supplement/draw attention to them. She has called many times with really only her first name and is worried about sending the letter. There has yet to be any sort of very warm or optimistic feeling. I do know that roughly ten kids got in from her large competitive public in Norcal, but only 3 (including her) have committed. The other two are fall freshmen, but in Marshall and Viterbi. She is in CLAS as a bio major. Should she bother with sending the letter?

I’m a spring admit and I sent in a letter…I would send one in, although it might be a little late now.

I would send in the letter if I were you. I was going to send a letter before I found out I can’t go in the fall anyways. I think it would greatly improve your chances.

Is it alright if the tone is more casual?

I would definitely send a letter. I emailed my local admissions person and was fortunate enough to fly down (from NorCal) 2 weeks ago to talk to admissions people about the fall.

I did the exact same thing!! I sent emails to my local admissions counselor and the dean od admissions for my specieifc school…then i sent in an actual letter to the center of admissions. I’ve also met like a couple weeks ago with one of the deans of the theatre school to meet and talk about the possibility of moving from spring to fall. I was told we’ll hear sometime this week or next : )

I do know that the university as a whole was wayyyy under their quota this year sooo they will be moving up spring admits and some appeals
