<p>So it looks like I will be living in Albany off of Solano Ave for my first year at UC Berkeley.</p>
<p>Any other students make that commute or live in the area? It is ~3 miles away. Bus and bike will be my primary means.</p>
<p>Not uncommon. I have a friend who takes the bus from Albany every day, and he’s usually on campus from 9am-7pm.</p>
<p>I believe married student housing is in Albany, a town geared toward families and probably boring from a single undergrad’s perspective.</p>
<p>It tends to be a popular option for the older students; if you have a fairly packed schedule and treat school like work, it’ll work great and save you quite a few bucks on rent.</p>
<p>However, if you want to get into the social scene, even living on the wrong side of campus can make things a little challenging.</p>
<p>You can park you car one mile from campus :)</p>
