^^ Hang in there - you sound like you have a great handle on all the details. Follow up tomorrow and fingers crossed that you get an audition slot easily.

entertainersmom-- My son’s CMU application was submitted on Sunday, and we have not received our ID# either. Their website said it might take a few days because of the volume. If you’re doing Unifieds in NYC and Chicago, you’re probably fine regarding getting him an audition slot…but I understand your stress! (I’m a mess!)

Add my son, his CMU app was sent Sunday as well. The site says wait 5 days to schedule your audition, though it doesn’t appear active yet.

He received his login from CCM today finally and was able to apply for his audition date.

And I’m a wreck as well LOL!

D called CMU and they didn’t even start processing applications until today. That means things will be slow moving. Imagine how many they have to get through when the Common App has been up since Aug 1st.

Thank you all for the reassurance! So glad to have people to share these aggravations with! I have only CC to turn to as no one in my orbit has gone through this process. I do know that finally starting the process has helped, and every task my son can cross off the list reduces the anxiety (until I find something else to ruminate over, lol).

entertainersmom - I literally laughed out loud at the “until I find something else to ruminate over” I find myself thinking “as soon as this part is done I’ll feel better”…nope I just focus on something else lol! I’ve actually already stressed about a move in day to a school in NYC, he JUST decided to apply to! I was trying to fall asleep thinking “what the heck is move in day like in NYC, where do you park, how they heck do you get their stuff there” I think I’m losing it!

My S though seems to feel much much better now that his applications are complete, accept for the brand new addition and he has one to submit if he gets by Otterbein’s prescreening. I’m happy he feels much less overwhelmed. I’ve also noticed he’s now taking the lead. He coordinated all his coaches to do a run through of his material and scheduled the accompanyist to do his prescreens. I think this process is a great lesson in organization, prioritizing and meeting deadlines for them.

Wanted to remind everyone as audition dates are confirmed to BOOK your hotel room if needed. As soon as my S applied for his CCM auditon date, I booked the room.

CMU is up, people! Get those auditions scheduled!! The ID is the Common App student ID.

Can’t register for CMU yet but since my son submitted on the 30th, I expect it will be a couple days to be able to register. I did e-mail CA about lack of submission confirmation and they basically regurgitated the info on the website though I specifically said none of their possible solutions worked. Everything on the site indicates it was submitted, sigh. If others could mention when they are able to register for CMU and when (approximately) the app was sent in, I would appreciate it very much.

My S submitted on the 30th and I can’t schedule him either.

I read on CMU site to wait 5 days

We submitted about two weeks ago and we were able to schedule the audition today.

D submitted to CMU about two weeks ago.

We still are having problems with common app - at least as of Wed night which was last my D checked. No login fro CCM, and NYU - Steinhardt hasn’t responded either.
OCU, Belmont and Stetson at least say they received the common app - not sure if that’s cause they are smaller schools? Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. (unhappy frustration.)

Did you email them and they’re not responding to that? CCM had a common app issue but it was resolved this week and D was able to send the CCM supplemental and request an audition date. I don’t believe she’s heard back from that yet.

lcoulter - when did your D apply to CCM? My S applied 8/28 and received his login this week. I’m wodering if they are staggering sending logins in the order the apps were received, just a guess though. His transcripts and recommendations were sent 9/20 but nothing is on file at CCM.

He hasn’t received a login from Ithaca or U of Mich yet.

The guidance counselor had to resend transcripts to Rider to get them on file. Now S has to check with this recommenders because those are on file yet either even though they were sent last month.

Read today there is issues with the recommender PDF, folks on Facebook are pretty peeved at the Common App process. There appears to be an issue related to google chrome. I’m researching to see how we can get around submitting recommendations via the Common App.

Honestly, I’m sure recommendations can be mailed in as long as identifying information (common app id, name, maybe birthdate) are in the letter. The common app issues are insane and extremely frustrating and as much as I loathe snail mail, it’s looking like a great alternative.

Still waiting for CMU to process son’s CA though CA states all parts were submitted on 10/1. I have to believe it is CMU process that is the issue. I have also been in contact with my son’s GC. Son’s school using Naviance and GC doesn’t seem to know what to do with schools who don’t use CA/Naviance, which are many.

CMU didn’t start processing applications until October 1st. They stated that processing would be slow in the beginning of the month because of this. Your son submitted his app in the thick of processing.

D’s GC can’t send anything electronically, so she’s having to snail mail everything. D just brings stamps and the addresses to the GC and gets it out the next day. That might have to be your workaround.

For quite a few of D’s recommendations last year I printed out the CA recommendation form, had D fill out her info and sign the top part, then attached an addressed and stamped envelope, her activities resume and her theatre resume (for reference when they wrote the rec). She then handed it personally to the teachers who had agreed to write the recs for her. She explained that because of the need to schedule auditions, it needed to be mailed in ASAP.

There was such a backlog thru Naviance, I worried about waiting. Yes we were kind of a pain for the GC last fall but I didn’t care. She was clueless about the extra work applying to performing arts schools entailed…

communicated with U of Michigan this morning and they have NOT even downloaded their applications from the Common Application system. They hope to do so “soon”. After that you should receive your e-mail with Student ID to check your status. According to the Theatre Audition website, you will not get an audition confirmation until an Academic Review. Ugh.
