I already had my teachers mail my recommendations to the four schools I'm applying to, but I haven't submitted my application yet, and the CommonApp won't let me submit it because my fee waiver hasn't cleared yet!

I am applying for the fee waiver, and mailed a signed fee waiver form to each of the schools about 5 days ago. The application, however, won't let me submit my application until the fee waiver clears (I'm guessing)!

It says this:

This institution requires that you submit the following before you can submit your application:

* Supplement
* Payment
* Art Supplement

What do I do!?!? I already checked the box that says "will apply for fee waiver."

What happens if the schools receive my teachers' recommendations and I don't even have an open 'file' with the school? Will they throw it away? Disaster!

Please advise

PS: if it's important, I applied to Syracuse, Cornell, U Penn, and Stanford

They won’t throw it away, so don’t worry. The first thing most of the places I applied I got were my teacher recommendation. And, this sounds kind of like a stupid question, but have you submitted your supplements? That’s the only thing that should be stopping you. After you submit those, when you click “Payment” you should get a couple options, one of which is “I intend to apply for a fee waiver.”

Hope that helps!

I was under the impression that schools begin to make files for any incoming documents, because most applicants don’t hand everything at the right time/before the app either. Tons of people were racing the deadline to finish essays, yet I’m sure most of us had sent in the information significantly before hand (I know I did).

I hope you’re right, Deep Blue

Linala…no…I didn’t fill the supplement out yet…I guess I should just finish it as far as I can and then see if it STILL stops me (it still mentioned “payment” even though I already went to the payment section and clicked the “I intend to apply for a fee waiver” box)

Can anyone verify that they won’t destroy the documents if they receive them without an open admissions file?
