Any suggestions for my "final" list?

I think I may be setting myself up for more disappointment than I'm going to be wanting in the spring. Any ideas for cuts or additions? I generally like big schools in or near cities.

Public school senior
Caucasian Female
3.81 UW GPA/ 4.1 W
1st Decile (class of 586)
State: PA

Major: Humanities, Liberal Arts, or Sociology/Anthropology (still haven't decided)
Minors: German and Latin

SAT
CR - 650
M - 630
W - 670 (10 on essay)
Retaking in October and taking the ACT also in October.

SAT II
German - 570 (taking two more in November)

AP Stat: 3

Courseload 9-11: I did honors for everything except science, and after 9th grade, I dropped to "accelerated" math (in between regular level and honors).

Senior Year Schedule (Block-scheduling)

AP Bio
AP Microecon
AP Macroecon
APUSH
AP German
Honors Humanities
Latin I
Regular Calculus or Latin II (I'm leaning towards the Latin II)

Scheduling Conflict - My senior year schedule was messed up. I wasn't given a Physics class and it couldn't be fixed. My guidance counselor is noting that this wasn't my fault in her recommendation. Also, I originally signed up for Calc, but as I'm intending on minoring in Latin, I'm really tempted to drop it.
I mean, I already have 4 credits of math.

EC's
-National Honor Society
-won second place at the German Fallfest Competition at Millersville University
-scored in the 85 percentile on the AATG German exam
-working as a cashier at a supermarket for a year
- treasurer of Student Historians Club for two years
-worked with special needs kids and helped them do crafts/helped organize activities for them to do (during school for the past two years)
-"Walking Tour" I'm a tour guide for the elementary school kids (this year'll be my third). I take them to different historically significant landmarks in our town and explain why they're important.
-member of the Civil War Heritage Foundation (Civil War Reenacting organization)

Schools:

New York University (CAS)
University of Maryland
George Washington University
University of Delaware (Honors College?)
University of Southern California
Emory University
Millersville University (super safety)

Any suggestions for some "safer" schools or schools that are more match-ish? Am I setting myself up for a lot of failure here?

Thanks.

Bump >< <> ><

bumpbumpbumpbumpbump

I do realize that I've posted in here before. Just help me out this one last time. Bump.

It's incredibly sad and desperate to bump myself more than three times. Alas.

I don't know anything about Millersville but if you would be happy going there and you are confident you will get in then you don't really need another safety school. Do they have early or rolling admissions so you can get a response early in the year? Can you apply EA or rolling/early to any of the other schools on your list?

Not really related to your question but I'm a little confused about your wanting to minor in Latin and you are only in Latin I so you've only been in Latin for a few weeks. Have you studied Latin before or do you just have a really inspiriing teacher?

The list that you have is fine, but you could add another match. You're applying to multiple very selective schools and your test scores are a bit low for them, but you have an impressive GPA and extracurriculars. Having said that, I would add another match (I don't know what your preferences are, and so I am not going to suggest any schools that you should apply to).

I've just really taken to Latin, and it's something that I've always wanted to study but could never fit into my schedule before. So I'd really like to continue with it during college but would also like more experience with it in high school first. Oh, and the teacher's pretty awesome, too.

I've been thinking about throwing an early application into Millersville for a while, and I'll definitely look into it. I'm going to apply Priority to UMD.

Yeah, I realize that my test scores are low, and I'm doing what I can next Saturday to hopefully up them into the 2000s, at least. I've been trying to figure out another match school for quite some time. What about American University?

Thanks for the responses.

NYU and EMORY are high reaches. Get those SAT's to at least 2000
GWU is a medium match
USC - also high reach

Yeah, that's what I figured. Stupid test scores!

Bump Bump Could anyone tell me if American's a match?

Your SAT scores fall within the median range for American.

You can go to the College Board website and then go to search for a college. You can type in your grades and scores and then select a college. Then it will show you how your stats match up to the school's median scores. You can also do the reverse and ask for a list of schools that you match up to. If you save your profile you can go back later and look at more schools. It is a pretty useful tool.

Mkay then. I did that match thingy. I found a few more that might suit my Financial Aid situation better (EFC = about $800). How are University of Dayton, University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), Duquesne, F&M, University of Iowa, and Case Western with finaid? Collegeboard says they cover a lot. Do they really? And what are my chances there? My SATs fall in their ranges, but I don't know how some of them will be for OOS admissions (I live in PA).

Bah, also, with the OOS schools, I'm not going to be getting very substantial finaid, right?

Look into Hofstra University and American University. I got into both of those and I was a similar student to you - slightly higher SAT (in all but Math) but lower GPA & class rank. They offered me solid financial aid packages too. They're also both near cities, have awesome internship programs, and are well-respected.

Mercyhurst may be a good match; they're AWESOME with financial aid. Not sure if they match your majors though.

(I'm waiting to get chanced if anyone feels up to it... :D http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/571978-virginia-military-institute-citadel-norwich-university-drexel-mass-maritime.html )

NYU, Emory and USC are reaches. Matches: GWU, Maryland and Delaware Honors. American is easier than GWU. It is about the same as Maryland
Safety: Millers

I was considering American, but it doesn't seem to have a Classics department at all, so it's a nogo for now. Thanks for the input! Anyone want to chance my new list?

BU
Case Western
Emory
Fordham
F&M
GWU
Millersville
NYU (CAS)
UD (Honors)
UGA
UMD
Umich - Ann Arbor
USC

I understand that USC, NYU, and Emory are reaches. How much would getting my SATs into the 2000s help? Could they be matches then? I'm somewhat nervous for next Saturday.

Which schools are likely to give me the best aid? I'm not doing very well with narrowing these schools down.

Oh, plus Hofstra.
