I am applying to the Brown/RISD Dual Degree program and desperately want to get in. I don’t have any other schools on my list. I need some other schools to apply to if I don’t get in. Does anyone know of any great academic schools that have a stellar art program?

i know a lot of the fine arts kids at my school are interested in NYU... any of the ivies except Columbia and Princeton... Vassar's good... Michigan, Syracuse, BC, BU, Carnegie Mellon, and Sarah Lawrence

Thanks for your input :) I appreciate it

you're quite welcome!

Tufts has a dual degree program with the Museum School in Boston.

Any suggestions for schools in the West?

Brown has a great art program and you can still cross register at RISD. Thats' what I do.

^^^ClaySoul, while that is a great suggestion if she/he doesn't get into the dual degree program, he/she still needs to get into ONE of these two schools....either Brown or RISD and both are highly selective, as you know. Nobody can count on either school. It is unwise to pin one's hopes on one particular school, when the odds are so long. It is very important to have a balanced list of schools and to have been completing and sending apps in right along, and putting full energy into each one.

xojenn had some good school suggestions.

Soozievt, I fully agree.

My point was that the OP shouldn't rule out Brown on it's own if they don't get into the dual degree program.

Tulane has great art. I don't really recommend the school overall though, unless you really REALLY like to party / are into the greek scene / don't want a sense of campus unity.

The dual degree program at Tufts and the SMFA is probably the best program to list alongside Brown/RISD.

^^^^ wow i didn't know there was one! Tell me more.

But I will say (because I looked at Tufts when cross registration was available with SMFA) that getting to SMFA is much, much more difficult than walking down the hill to RISD!!

And I'm going to be a brat and say that Brown is cooooooooooooler than Tufts, so if you get in, follow my biased opinion and go there, but if you don't, and so many VERY QUALIFIED people don't, then Tufts is another GREAT school.

Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it! :)

Do you know of any programs in the West (particularly the West Coast) that has good academics and a great art program?
