Any suggestions on good biotech programs on West Coast

This is a follow up to my posting on best biotech / genetics programs. Thanks for the replies to that posting.

I am leaning towards West Coast and possibly Texas as preferred geographic regions. Beyond the obvious UC campuses, are there any other colleges that have good biotech / genetics programs on the West Coast? How is Texas A&M?

UWashington is a solid school in anything bio-related. CalTech and Stanford are also amazing (assuming you have the scores). Can't speak for A&M, though.

Berkeley and UCSD all the way, though =P

Thanks for the quick response. Pardon my ignorance, but what does =P mean? My daughter's scores aren't strong enough for Stanford or Berkeley but UCSD is a possibility. She plans to take SAT again in October

It's a smily face with the tongue sticking out. Is your daughter in or out of state? UCSD uses a point system to determines who gets in. If you go to their sub-forum on this site I'm sure you will find it posted there. It should give you a rough idea of whether or not she'll get in.

Thanks for the explanation and the tip about UCSD forum. I will follow up. She will be resident in California from year 2 onwards as I would establish residency by that time. She is a US citizen but studying towards IBDP program in India.

Any suggestions in Portland, Oregon?
