Any summer school students?

I'm looking at the summer application, and I have questions for people who may have already been :

http://www.housing.ucsb.edu/application/summer/default.htm

Anyway, anyone have any any reccomindations in terms of housing? It seems the apartments could be better values, though I'd have to deal with food myself (it doesn't look like meal plans are offered seperately, only with the Manzanita choice).

If anyone is also interested in this, I asked in the UCSB LiveJournal group and got a few answers:

http://www.livejournal.com/community/ucsb/709226.html

I did the summer session. It was okay. I didn't stay on campus to live. I wouldn't waste money doing it. Go to a JC, work, or have your summer free.

I agree with Sirwatson1. Don't waste money.
Go to SBCC, work, or have your summer free.

I figure I'm going to take a lot of those classes the when the first quarter starts anyway, so I think I wouldn't mind taking them now, and since there's a cap on 8 units in terms of cost of classes, I could take a 3rd class free. May 25th is the date of my last final, so even I go to summer school, I'll still end up having a long summer :p

You can get an off-campus meal plan, it's just the on-campus ones that require it and so show it as part of the package.

I'm going to take a few classes during Session B to finish up my GE requirements (I'm a transfer) and get used to the campus while it's less crowded.

I guess I'll see you there :) Are you going to sign up for the Transitions program:

http://www.summer.ucsb.edu/transitions/transitions.html

Or are you just registering for classes the regular way?

I signed up for the program but it turns out I have finals the week following the advising days, so I'll have to talk to an advisor at another time or by email. I have a good idea of what classes I need to take though, so it's not a big deal.
