Any Survivor Watchers?

Don’t want to spoil anything for you @oldmom4896
But darn - that person was my favorite in the intros.
I hope she/he is invited back for the next season.

Does anyone know if Gabler ever donated the money?

I am thinking no way that guy doesn’t have a concussion (even though they said he was fine)

A pretty wild first episode. And wild first tribal. I don’t understand why they chose to use their shot in the dark. Did they think they were at risk? I am so glad he played his idol.

I was thinking it was strategy to see if Lauren really lost her vote. Maybe not. This put Kane (I think that is who it is) in the position he didn’t want. Brandon knows that the only people that had votes were himself, Kane and Maddy.

Lots of students/engineer/scientists this season.
Josh - Surgical Podiatrist
Frannie - Research Coordinator
Helen - Project Manager
Heidi - Engineering Manager
Carson - Engineering Student. (What exactly is a NASA engineering student. Is he aerospace?)
Kane - Law Student
Matt - Software Engineer

He’s a student at GA Tech and and intern at NASA.

Yes

Spoiler Alert

He has already been invited back for a future season. It may not be next season (or it may be).

My gosh, that was an intense first hour and full episode! I was worried he was goi g to bleed out in that first beach! Too too bad he seemed like a great guy.

Appreciate Matt (barbershop) but that was just a DUMB move trying to cling that rock and without footwear!

I like the NASA guy a lot. Lol that he gained 30 lbs just to Oreo for the show! He is adorable.

Also loved the Hispanic woman not messing around and starting that fire. :boom:

Have to admit seems like not as many buff athletes but lots of nerdy intellectuals. The drug counselor is NOT in that camp :upside_down_face:

Also that yoga lady was super annoying with her “Bing! Bing!” In her intro…

I was sad to see Helen go. She didn’t deserve it.

So many questions! How did no one suspect Carolyn found the idol? Why did they suspect each other when they were all together? Were the idol and the decoy different for the two tribes or did she read it wrong and take the wrong one?

I would have voted Carolyn out because her wackiness makes me nervous.

Agree RE: which idol is real—it would be hilarious if the drug counselor (who seems unbalanced, BTW) plays the wrong one!

They showed Carson analyzing body language and wondering if Helen had the idol. Carson also worked with Helen on the orb puzzle and he realized that she was smart. He probably felt it was a better move to keep the wacky people than it was to keep someone who is strategizing. They also mentioned that Yam Yam was the strongest on the beach and they needed to keep him for challenges. I think Carolyn is pretty strong as well.

I was worried that Carolyn was a talker and would divulge secrets but she didn’t. She has so many oddities about her that I don’t think the rest can read her (yet).

Gotta say that I laughed at the little jig that Carolyn and Yam Yam did as they were walking back from tribal.

Was anyone amazed that Matt the barbershop owner not only took off his sling to win that ball challenge but admits he BUILD ONE in his backyard to practice!?

And Carson recreated puzzles on his 3D machine?!!

Also sorry to see Helen go. Not clear if Carolyn’s “wackiness” is getting a more extreme edit than the others were actiually experiencing. They all immediately decided she did not open the bird cage, even though she was the only one not with them! That didn’t make a lot of sense.

I was thinking maybe they thought that production had taken whatever was in the bag since they didn’t find the key fast enough? And left the bag open so they would know whatever had been in there was now gone?

I just watched Helen’s interview with Gordon Holmes. In it, she said that there was quite a bit of time (a day or so) between when Carolyn found the key and when the rest of them realized that the sack in the cage had been tampered with.

I actually managed to watch the episode this week on my phone from the hospital. (See latest Covid thread). No one else watched?

I watched. I thought it was kind of anticlimactic. Maybe it is setting the scene for future episodes.

I watched. It was kinda ho-hum. The right person went home.

The first few episodes are always a challenge for me because I’m still learning the players. Plus this is the penultimate week of Australian Survivor, which has been better than recent seasons of any Survivor franchise.

I watched. It will be interesting to see how the fake idols play out.

I forgot to post about it!

How embarrassing to leave Survivor after 3 episodes and 0 challenges played. Hard to have much respect for Claire.

I think the season has lots of potential with its roster of “nerds” from the brainiac variety to the wacky variety.

Yep all the idols is going to be hard to keep track of
