Any Survivor Watchers?

I know nothing about the season but will def be watching. Even though I think there have been a million previews! (I tend to tune out ANY commercials/ads) I believe just “regular” people as contestants - no returning players - right?

Correct, with the exception of Bruce Perreault, who was medically evacuated day 1 last season.

I never watch those. I also FF through “Previously on…” I might forget what I had for breakfast yesterday, but I can remember last week’s episode :rofl:

For those that follow reality TV peeps on social media, who do you follow?

For Survivor, I follow Rob Cesterino (RHAP) and Dalton Ross. Other than Reality Steve, are there any other good Survivor gurus out there?

I don’t think I follow anyone from Survivor. I do listen to a podcast about it when it’s airing. I usually find with reality people that I follow them for a bit and then unfollow because I become uninvested. I do follow a couple Bachelorettes.

For a bit I followed Carson from last season on Twitter…but I pretty much stay off “X” now.

Cast member Janani Krishnan-Jha is an alum of my college a cappella group, so I’ll be watching this year!

Feel like the casting this year is odd. Three lawyers, but only one telling people. Cast seems very young. Two people on yellow with pretty big anxiety issues - with one bailing out the first vote. We will see how this plays out.

Agree, very odd that the yellow team player quit instead of there being a vote.
Guess there is still something new to see.

Yeah, I agree an interesting crew - not necessarily in the best way!

Very awkward, tough start for the yellow crew. Emily, :face_vomiting:!!! Her attitude is BEYOND.

The one who left, who talked her into doing this show?! She clearly did not think through any facets of it!

Loved the 90 minute episode, not too little, not too much!

The grief that they were giving Bruce from the start! He looks like he develops a very big personality!

What do you think is the reasoning behind the outfits they are wearing at the start? Almost made to look like they were taken in the course of their day (like Bruce’s business clothes on the big boat) - awkward shoes you wouldn’t take for the island, clothing you wouldn’t take, etc.

Producers have the final say. In addition to dictating the color scheme (it’s not a coincidence that Belo is dressed in blue), they also mix it up so that all players aren’t wearing a tee and shorts

I did notice on this episode that the color matching was clearly on point for the tribes.

I can’t recall when they instituted the change (my guess is 41, but I’m not going to research), but the color matching has been obvious for a few seasons

Color matching has been around for a several seasons.

I don’t think anyone thought Hannah would quit. I was reading a post show interview, and Jeff Probst said, " And the first call I made was to [casting director] Jesse Tanenbaum and Dr. Liza, our head psychologist, to say, “Add this into our data, because we got it wrong. We missed something with Hannah. She shouldn’t have been on the show.”

In an EW interview with Hannah, she mentioned something about nicotine withdrawal and that there was a whole section that wasn’t shown where a tribe member from Belo visited Lulu and sat in on their tribal council. That’s a significant event to leave out. It will be interesting to see if/how that plays out in the future.

Jeff looked genuinely shocked to me when she mentioned her desire to flat out leave.

And I remember her mentioning something about nicotine withdrawal to the long haired guy during the episode - I remember being like “what?” - she may have a problem there.

Why would another member from another tribe join the tribal council, that’s odd!

It could have been a benefit that the tribe winning the challenge received. It is a double edged sword in choosing who to send.

Just finished watching the first episode. I always struggle the first few episodes with who is who. I am so glad Bruce is getting another chance. Boy is Emily negative!! Sad to see someone quit the first week.

Once again last night showed poor casting decisions. Brandon had tried to be on the show forever, but had too much of an anxiety disorder to cope with being there. He should not have been cast in my opinion.

Also the general makeup of the Lulu Tribe seems to be a big mistake. Weak physically, mentally and not very likeable. Not sure how they are going to ever win a challenge.

Brando reminds me of Carson, both in resemblance and style of play. The nerd in me always roots for those contestants.

Agreed. This seems a bigger issue than the casting.

Agree. Although Brandon sealed his fate with his inability to even come close with the coral puzzle after saying he was good at puzzles. Hard to believe he did not think to double-check the tiles when none of the combos worked.

I did like the redemption of Emily. That is not typical. If one of the others can do a puzzle, they have a shot.

Did they get to take their torches back to camp to get fire? Seems really cruel to leave them without a way to cook.

Thought the 90 minutes was a bit long for the
