I know that the FAFSA application process is not necessary for WP. But, would anyone know if my son should still fill out the application this January with the other colleges that he applied too? The MAJ in admissions at WP said that he was not familiar with the financial aid process. Thanks to all for their input.

Absolutely yes for all the other schools (don't list WP obviously). If you don't file FAFSA then he will not be eligible for financial aid at these schools (if he happens to not go to WP). Also do CSS/profile for any schools that require that.

Ok, a little green on the CSS/profile??? what is that? He has received his "Appointment" for the class of 2013, but I still feel he needs to cover all his bases, for the just in case factor?? correct?

Some schools require CSS as well as FAFSA. You would need to check with the schools he has applied to. Schools that use FAFSA only use it for both federal aid and their own institutional aid. Schools that use FAFSA and CSS (or their own financial aid forms) use FAFSA for federal aid and CSS for their own institutional aid.

I agree he should cover all his bases. Just in case he has a change of heart or breaks a leg or something. Better to have that back up plan and not need it than need it and not have it.

Sounds like sound advice to me....! :-)
