i was wondering what your decision process of transferring to a universitywas like? since you're older, your proiorities might be different from a 18-19 yr old in chosing a school.are u chosing to go to school closer to home or location doesn't matter? maybe staying closer to home due to family or job commitments or locations doesnt matter depending on how good the school is. As for myself, I applied to one school in the bay area and the 4 other schools are in socal. Not transferring till next fall 2006, but still unsure which school to choose. for older transfer students did u choose the convenience to being closer homer or didnt take that into consideration? thanks

I'm 22 and I'm transferring to one of the UCs, probably LA, but hopefully Berkeley. I was a high school dropout and since I've been in cc, I haven't really had the "college experience". I'm pretty much gonna treat transfering like I would've treated going to university right out of high school. I'm moving as far away as possible(unless I get into Berkeley), choosing the school with the best program for my major, living in dorms (if I can), going to parties. Am I too old for that stuff? Probably, but I don't care because I feel like it's a right of passage I missed out on. Your reasons for transferring are probably different. If you only care about academics, your choice shouldn't be too difficult. If you care about the school atmosphere, you could write a list of all the reasons you want to transfer, and not just the admissions essay reasons, the REAL reasons. For instance, on my list, some of the reasons would be "to make friends who are in similar financial/living situations as myself" or "to live in a dorm and be on a meal plan, which means no more dirty dishes" or for some of my friends, "getting laid" is high on the list. There are ways you can find out about the vibes at different schools(like on this board). Sounds kinda selfish, but being completely honest with yourself will get you into a much better situation.

I am in my mid twenties and i did go to school close to home but now i want to see the world.
