Q: Can I appeal my admission decision?
A: We strongly discourage letters of appeal unless you can provide significant new information for us to consider. Our transfer selection process involves a careful review and it is very unlikely that we will choose to reverse our original decision. If you do have significant new information to present and decide to appeal our admission decision, please submit your request in writing, postmarked by May 15. Include your UC application ID number in your letter and submit it with all accompanying materials in a single envelope. We do not accept appeals by telephone, fax or email. Log onto myBerkeleyApplication for your appeal decision.

Decisions on appeals may not be issued until after June 15. Advise us of any change in your email address in case we need to contact you during the appeal process. Even if you choose to appeal, we recommend that you do not delay accepting an admission offer from another college or university.

Yes, I read that, including the part where they discourage you to appeal unless you can provide significant new information, which I can’t. I really just want to ask someone why I was rejected, but they also say not to call with questions specific to your application.

I’m really just confused (and sad), more than anything. Thanks for the help, though.

I suggest you submit a letter with essentially the explanation you just gave. If anything, it’ll get them to look over your application again.
It’s not like they will arrest you for not sending them any new info and the cost is only a postage stamp.

Good luck to you! I have a really good friend whom I’ve met on the boards here at CC and works at Berkeley Undergraduate Admissions, if I can ask her anything about appealing, I’ll let you know, but as far as UCLA Appeals, basically the student workers look through the appeals and separate them (into what I have no idea) and only one pile is given to the Appeals Committee. Like I said, good luck!

I was admitted two years ago as a freshman, but when I looked at the campus, it just didn’t really do anything for me. I feel really happy and at home at Davis and Berkeley. LA just doesn’t do it for me.

Also, UCLA is just close enough for me to live at home, and I’m really ready to move out. Heck, I was ready two years ago.
