Any word on when decisions are being mailed?

sometime in the next TWO weeks?!? nooooo!!!!!!! Maybe we'll get it before next year. :(

Most Americans should have their decisions by the 19th.

So would the university of chicago post anything on their website stating they have mailed out the ea decisions, or not really?

They did post last year.

I talked to the Adcoms when I was interviewing this weekend (I'm RD). They 1. haven't finished and 2. said they were mailing probably on the 16th.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess what I'm trying to say is "that's rather disappointing."
That means that I won't know until the 19th how I'll be spending the next four years of my life. I guess, I've waited 18 years, another 11 days won't be TOO bad... I hope.

well thats not too bad(it would be sweet if it was earlier), but atleast there is a more definitive date now.

I wish it was in April. I know I got rejected so I just want to postpone the inevitable.

man, i'm kind of regretting this now.....i have this awful pit in my stomach that it won't come by the 19th (the last day i can check the mail and then i go away for a week), and then i'll be really excited when i come back just to receive my deferral.............WHHYYYYYYY???

i realised that even the credentials site is gone... when i sign in

if we get it on like the 19th, and get rejected/deferred (which i know i will), its gonna totally ruin my vacation, not only cuz i'll be rejected from one of my top choices, also cuz im gonna have a billion other apps to do...guess i better start them soon. :(

its nice to come home to a forum full of people feeling the same way i do. ive just been assuming lately that im not getting in.. :(

As scary as this is (and I know my son is going around on pins and needles, periodically growling at the rest of his family!), there are a number of positives. First, the acceptance rate for Chicago, even if it's 1/3 for EA this year as reported, is still higher than nearly all comparably ranked major research universities. Secondly, if Chicago accepts a third and defers a third, then two-thirds of the EA pool will still be active applicants, either outright accepted or given another shot in the spring.

Given the fact that yield is traditionally a concern at Chicago, an EA applicant who is deferred still has the advantage of having shown early interest. That does count for something. The school knows that EA applicants aren't applying just because they want a back-up: they really do have a serious interest in the school.

Since the decisions are apparently coming out later than some of the other schools, I don't think it would be a bad idea to prepare another application or two and get your credentials sent out....just in case. It's better to be safe than sorry.

And if it's any consolation, there are parents out there also sweating this wait out.

I've been wanting to vomit out of anticipation since December 1.

I'm so scared, guys.

Hehe, we might have to wait until Christmas Eve to get our decisions.

That would be awful. "Santa brought you a rejection letter! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!"

Perhaps I will get my decision in Jan; I live in Guam.

I believe they send courier mail to internationals.

hopefully... but any intels here who applied to UChi last yr? did they send any e-mail notifications? im pretty anxious.. cos i'd be overseas and won't be able to check my mailbox at all... will not know my decisions unless through e-mail

From the FAQ's for international applicants:

I am anxious to learn what decision has been made about my application. Can I find out via the Internet or by e-mail?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to learn admissions decisions over the telephone or via the Internet. All offers of admission made to applicants abroad are sent by couriered mail. Notifications of other decisions may be sent initially through e-mail; however this electronic notification is always followed by an official letter sent by post.

'Notifications of other decisions may be sent initially through e-mail; however this electronic notification is always followed by an official letter sent by post.'
what kind of other decisions?

rejections or deferrals.

Does anyone feel like calling the admissions office tomorrow for a more definite answer? I'd do it, but I just called about a different question and would feel silly bothering them again.
