Any YALE transfers out there??

Hey all, I'm considering applying to Yale (among other schools, of course) as a transfer student -- are any of you transfer students there, or know someone who was? Just wondering about stats. Also -- out of curiousity -- what are some things at Yale that are renowned and/or totally specific to that school, like departments or activities or the such?

as i hope you know, Yale only accepts around 30 transfer applicants a year, a statistic in which is very daunting to everyone that applies, even the world's brightest students. so before you get your hopes up to high, you should realize that a successful transfer to Yale is incredibly rare and is extremely difficult. aside from that, Yale is renouned for its liberal arts for the most part. their engineering program is top notch, although it doesnt compare to E-schools like Cornell's.

good luck

im applying

I was applying but decided against it for now. My reason? I am also applying to Harvard, U Penn, Columbia, Stanford, Cornell, Brown, and Georgetown SFS. If I get rejected from those schools then I would absolutely get rejected from Yale as well. If I get into any one of those, I'd be just as happy as I would be at Yale.

I like your reasoning.

Yeah Mat, that makes sense.

I'm not applying to many schools - but Yale is one of them becausse I absolutely love it. I was accepted as a freshman but wasn't able to attend. Hopefully I can change that now.

mr_sanguine, where do u attend?????? and why did you give up yale?

I'm a student at URochester. I couldn't attend last year because of family/financial issues, but those have thankfully worked themselves out.

I just completed my application to Yale as well. All I need to do is to secure my recomendations. As to whether I get in or not, I will not worry about it. Stanford, Brown, and Cornell applications are finished as well. If ONE of the 4 schools I applied to accepts me, I'll be happy. I'm hoping it's Stanford. But I won't get my hopes up on that one.

hey all,

im applying as well. havent taken my SATs yet... what ranges should i be looking at for competitiveness? i've been practicing but its hard to balance with schoolwork so just wanted to get an idea. thanks!

the common consensus is 1400+ with a 4.00. In my opinion 1450 gives you a very good shot. it does seem like a waste of time to take the SAT when you are in college and are studying what you are really interested in. I'd rather take like 4 SAT IIs but...

You're a bit ahead of me. I have only completed my application for Cornell. My application for Harvard is almost done. The rest are going to be easier because the essays for Stanford and Columbia are the same as Harvard, and the essays for U Penn and Brown are the same as Cornell's.

is brown's app out yet? i still haven't recieved it yet.

never use that logic. I was admitted into Brown, Cornell, and Johns Hopkins (as transfer), but was rejected from UC Davis, UCLA, and Stanford. The only regret I have is not giving myself a shot at Yale or Harvard.

Are you guys submitting an activity list even though the Yale application doesn't ask for one?

is Brown even out, i completed my UPenn and Columbia ones already, is Brown the same?

jesus, you guys are so on top of this. i haven' even begun to start, other than sending out scores. though by now i'm mainly just considering applying to brown.

meh...i have a 4.0 but a 30 ACT and im going for Yale...i hope my 30 doesnt kill my chances.

Hey, Area69, you were admitted to Brown? Would it be awful of me to ask what your GPA was or what your stats looked like? I'm considering doing the same thing, and I'm trying to decide if I should wait a year...
