Anybody appealing?

Is anybody appealing? I know the its pretty unlikely, but what the hell, it doesn't seem that hard. I don't know what new stuff to put tho. What are other ppl saying? I need to send it out tomarrow, so the sooner the better please!!

I am going to. At least if i don't get in they'll see I am serious about going and maybe it will help me out when transferring. Did you get that paper about appealing with your rejection letter?

I did. Didn't everybody? I'm appealing too. I have a couple new extra currivular activites, but I don't have any new academic news for them.

I'm appealing, and I added a lot of things besides the letter for added impressiveness. It's a big envelope...

What did you guys do?

if you appealed...did your application status change?

mine did and i was wondering if it changed for anyone else. it's on another thread. the paragraph from the original "3/29" acted upon date changed too. so it's a new paragraph and it says it was last updated 4/10. anybody get the same thing?

mine hasnt changed since 3/29. But i sent my appeal on saturday, so maybe they havent gotten it yet? What kind of new things did u add? i didnt have anything impressive..

I handed in mine personally today, and my status time changed to today's date, 4:39 PM.

However, let's not get ourselves worked up on these status changes again. USC explicitly states they're letting us know May 15th.

Hmm.. has anyone that has appealed in the past received notification BEFORE the date USC gave?

bunkey- i don't know if my things were impressive either...but i just included that some of my grades were missing (3 A's) and one of the classes i'm taking right now didn't show up (AP psych.) i forgot to talk about my volunteering on the application (stupid...i know) so i talked about how i volunteered to coach little boys' soccer teams...and lastly i emphasized how much time my EC took to give reason for not a 4.0.

hopefully it works..but i've braced myself for another rejection. what about your basis??

and the only person i know to hear before the deadline had a "special circumstance" (an athlete not marked as recrutied) but other than that i don't know...i know last year they heard before the May 1st deadline though.

By "May 1st deadline," do you mean that USC indicated that they'd inform people before May 1st? Or are you referring to submitting SIR's to other schoolsby May 1st?

i meant USC notified students who appealed prior to the SIR May 1st deadline last year. i think they heard around the 26th or 27th. i wonder why it was pushed back so far this year. i hope it's not because they're going to be way more strict. can i ask what your basis for appealing was??

can you appeal at usc? is there a defined process or just write a letter to the dean?

still no status change update. that would be cool if they told us by may 1st. i didnt really have a big reason for appealing, i just included like more volunteering stuff (just reached 200 hrs), that school is in top 2% of US highschools, so is hard to get good grades, my act is above avg, aunt is alumni (which i didnt say in the main application, but called the other day and they said i should include it), so i dunno little things like that. i'm not counting on getting in, i just wanted a little bit of hope (couldnt accept going to davis or ucsb or bu or where ever i got in just yet cause dont really love any of them)

DukeBlueDevils, all appeal info was included on a paper that came in the rejection envelope -- the process was simply write a statement, include up to 2 letters of rec, and up-to-date transcript. The deadline for them receiving it was yesterday, though.

^oh sorry i didn't mean to mislead you, i was accepted back in march. i was just curious if usc (private university) had an appeals process...interesting.

I put in a lot of stuff... Big manila envelope... Besides saying how much I want to go, and that I will transfer if needed, I went into more depth on a few things... I had mentioned that I had arranged music for my band at school, and that I had made a few computer games, but for the appeal I included the musical scores for some of the music, the code for some of the games, and a cd with the video of the performance of some of the music as well as the game executables...

did you guys who are appealing think you were gonna get in? was usc a stretch for you based on your SATs and GPA? i got a 32, which is on the higher side of the avg, and my gpa is average, like a 3.7 unw i think. Are you guys similar to that?

Nah, I'm a bit higher on tests cores but a bit lower on GPA. What did you do in your appeal?

I have this big long series of ideas that have me convinced its easier to appeal this year, but I am likely just fooling myself.

why do u think its easier to appeal this year?

yeah i would like to hear them too.

They admitted 8500 last year for 2600 spots, and they had 2900 attend. The appeals were 41 of 626.

This year they accepted 7500ish for 2600 spots. I think that they will have less than 2600 attend, as every year the number of colleges people apply to increases. Plus I know a lot of people who were going to go but can't due to worries over being able to afford it because of the economy.
