Hi guys I know it’s difficult to wait for decisions cause I was in your same position last year. If you guys have any questions about admissions, the school, or majors or something, please feel free to ask!
What have you heard about the Computer Gaming Science Major? Is it hard to get into that program?
Any Computer science major is pretty difficult to get into.
How competitive is Business Administration?
@Luigi0928 Pretty competitive because its an Impacted Major
@BigSean There is a thread here called “what does this letter mean?” What are your thoughts on that? What do you think the letter means?
How Competitive is Literary Journalism?
@DPattt Seems like the normal generic stuff that the school sends out to applicants. I didnt get one last year though so maybe its something new
@BigSean that’s what i thought too. Weird that they didnt send it to all applicants though. Thanks for your time
@SuzyA97 One of my good friends is a second year in Literary Journalism and she got into the program despite having a pretty low SAT and average GPA
@BigSean okay thank you for the help.
@bigsean - do the acceptances trickle out over several days? If my D has not heard yet, and they started at 5 p.m. yesterday, is she rejected? Seems crazy as she was accepted to UCSD, UCSB and UCSC (first year honors invite).
@ucladeb
Yes acceptances do trickle out over several days. I did however notice that most of the later decisions (March 23rd~ and on) are rejects.
@onedeaged - thanks.
Mesa vs. Middle Earth?
How exactly do you change a major? I always hear stories of how people changed their majors 5+ times but I never learned how. Also, how soon can you change it?
Hi, what exactly is the literary journalism major? I never understood what it was and there isn’t much info on it. Thank you?
@HannahPaige
I personally chose Middle Earth, but I’ll try to keep it unbiased as possible.
Mesa is more aesthetically pleasing as the buildings are for the most part newer. People say Mesa has bigger rooms but from the rooms I’ve seen, they are pretty much identical. It feels like ME has more of a community feel to it because the buildings seem to be smaller (though I could be wrong on that) and the recreation area (basketball courts, game room, and one of the dining facilities) are on the way to class so everyone passes by them (At Mesa some of these things are off to the side). Middle Earth hands down has better food. Brandywine is the place to go for a good lunch because of their grill specials that change everyday. Pippin can be good for dinner but I mostly eat out. Middle Earth is smack dab on campus so it’s closer to most classes (literally a 3 minute walk to the social sciences/engineering/comp sci/business areas which is SUPER CONVENIENT), while Mesa is separated from campus by a small street and some stairs but it a bit closer to the humanites area. Mesa is also closer to UTC (shopping center) that has In n Out, Chipotle, Taco Bell, etc, and a ton of small stores. The walk to UTC from Middle Earth isn’t bad though, takes about 5-10 minutes.
Overall I 100% would choose Middle Earth again but I’m probably a bit biased about it.
@cherise97
You can change your major in the MyAdmissions page or at orientation if your request gets denied.
i got into uc irvine as undelcared/undecided, but when I applied i put my major as engineering undelcared in the college of engineering. Other people also got into ur irvine but as undeclared, even though theyh declared a major from the beginning. Why do they do that?
I was accepted to UCI for Biological Sciences but now I have decided that I want to go into engineering instead. I know engineering is an impacted major and I can’t change it on my admissions page at this time, but if I decide to attend UCI this fall 2015, would I able to change into engineering?
