Is anyone here majoring in Computer Science (CS)?

meng and majoring in computer science.

gotta be from liberty...

wassup

mr namba lol hahha yeah. Heard back from the UW yet?

yeah i heard back like two weeks ago....got accepted!

your serious? Man, when'd did you turn in your applicatoin...and what was your stats?

Oh yeah, what are you majoring in?

yeah, i turned in my application on december 1st. my GPA was like 3.862 and SAT was 1370/1600. i'm sure there are lots of people with better stats than me that haven't been accepted yet 'cause i think their admissions is pretty random. for my major i put down psychology, but im almost 100% sure it will change while im at the UW.

you haven't heard back yet? what were your stats? i'm sure you'll get in eventually.

is UW your first choice/did you apply to honors?

I put down CS as my major.

Entered into the database: Nov 28th

My stats:
GPA: 3.775
SAT: 1210/1600
AP Exams: APCS (5) APUSH (4)

Nah, I didn't apply for honors. And yup UW is my first! I just wanna know why its taking so long?! How long did it take yours to change from the "Full review process"

it changed to "reviewed" a day after it switched to the "full review process". letter came like three days later.

i don't think you need to worry too much. most of the kids here at school haven't been accepted yet...i think someone who had a decent gpa and 2200+ on their sat hasn't even gotten accepted yet. pretty random.

I'm going to go for the Applied and Computational Math Science program, with an option in Discrete Math and Algorithms.

CS major

accpted to honors

4.0
1510/1600

GrassR00t - I'm an ACMS major, too! I considered Discrete Math and Algorithms, but eventually decided on Scientific Computing, because I found DMaA to be to heavily involved with CS.

Really ACMS has to do a lot with CS? What is techinically covered in ACMS?

Go to www.ms.washington.edu/acms to see. Basically, it is focused in applied math courses. Along with applied math, there is some focus both on computer science and on pure math (though, to a lesser extent). There are a number of possible concentrations within the ACMS major, ranging from economics to CS to mathematical modeling to biology.
