Anyone applied to Haas this year?

@jcarlomonti no i didn’t either and thats why im worried too! :(

@comp100 That sucks for us. I just emailed my TAP counselor about whether that is a good, bad, or irrelevant sign of the admission status. I’ll post the answer as soon as I know it, though, it won’t matter pretty soon; decisions’ day is quite close now.

@jcarlomonti are you TAP? if you are thats awesome because you are definitely in. also i asked a transfer that was admitted for 2012 and he said for the leadership award you can just apply in may you dont have to be invited. its open to a admits. good luck this friday! :)

i got an email for the leadership award but i doubt it means anything. anyone can apply

Did anyone get the Financial aid email today?

I didnt :/

@jcarlomonti did you receive a financial email today?

No, I didn’t. Apparently is not a definitive sign of rejection, but if u did get it is a very good sign of acceptance.

@jcarlomonti have you heard of or do you personally know someone who received a financial aid email and got in?

4.0, Honors, ALL Pre-reqs complete, 7/7 Breadth complete after spring, 0 W’s/ Pass/no pass, two internships, 3 leadership positions, 2- part-time jobs, 300hrs+ in community service. I think my chance of getting in is about 10%. The only way to stand out for haas is your essays, I spent probably a month on them; however, essays aren’t my forte and they reject 4.0’s constantly.

I still think its mainly on luck, and who reads your application… It’s way to competitive to stand out with stats.

also, I received no e-mails of financial aid.

@evity do you personally know of anyone with a 4.0, all prereqs done and decent essays/ECs get rejected?

@comp100 I’ve been reading posts all over CC about this. For Cal, I never saw a post in which an applicant got the FinAid email and did NOT get in. Meaning, if u got the email, u r in. If u didn’t, it does not mean rejection, many got in without getting a single email from Cal’s FinAid.

That sucks for me because I’ve never received anything :/

Yes. He also had a child, and was in business field for several years.

@evity did you read his essays? Were they bad in your opinion?

I did not receive the letter and was accepted last year.
I know people from the year before me that got the letter and were accepted.
I know people from the year before me that did not get the letter and were accepted.
I know people that got the letter this year that I’m confident will be accepted.

The previous posts are correct: Receiving the letter is a good sign and not receiving it means nothing.

Good luck.

I didn’t read his essays, but judging from his background he went through more struggles and a 19 year old like me could ever experience. He probably just didn’t portray himself well enough on the essays. I also know a few that were less qualified than him that got in, so I really think the application is just a game.

This question is open to all: do you guys think personal struggles are weighed heavily if properly expressed through the essays?

Also are any of you able to create a CalNet ID?

ok sorry for the incessant posts but has anyone noticed on their myberkeleyapp essay section the essay question is now: For the Haas School, there are four principles that, taken together, sharply define us relative to other business schools in the United States. As you reflect on these principles (Confidence without Attitude, Question the Status Quo, Students Always, Beyond Yourself) which one do you identify most with? Why?

its no more the one about which principle can you improve most on. weird.
