Anyone apply yet?

Can you apply for housing now or do you have to wait until January? Having trouble figuring this out. Accepted 10/10/12, applied 8/13/12, GPA 3.9, ACT 32

Believe you have to wait until January for housing

Accepted with GPA 4.2 ACT 32

Last fall, if I recall correctly, IU began accepting housing applications on Nov. 1st. Check on the IU residential programs and services webpage later this month for updates. We were advised to apply ASAP after it opens, to improve chances of getting the desired LLCC or neighborhood (northwest is most popular, though my daugher loves her central neighborhood). Also, if you decide to stay in the dorm sophomore year, you will get to choose your dorm based on your freshman application date, so the earlier, the better.

You can add a roommate later this school year. My daughter found a roommate on the IU class of 2016 Facebook site; lots of kids on that site were looking for roommates. They “interviewed” each other in private messages on how messy they keep their rooms, how much they plan to study and party, average sleep times, etc.

D just texted me - she got the Kelley Direct Admit email today. Yay! Yesterday she took a look at the Selective Scholarship essays and is totally overwhelmed. Boo! Housing apps might be accepted as early as Nov. 1? Yikes! I guess we better start learning about the options. I really want to encourage D to check out the LLC options, but she says she just wants a “normal dorm experience” (whatever that is).

Can anyone provide info on the housing options? When filling out the housing application do you just select a neighborhood or specific dorms? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each dorm/neighborhood? What are advantages and disadvantages of the various LLC options?

I just called housing and they said housing opens up for Fall 2013 in January

Generally housing says they’re going to open in December/January, but have always opened much earlier to accommodate the number of accepted students. I’d keep checking their website through October and November, but January would be bucking a long-time trend

My D2 was accepted on Tuesday to IU. Then yesterday she got an email that she is a DA to Kelly Business School. This is her first acceptance and she is very excited!

My dd applied to IU on 9/27 and she still hasn’t heard anything. They show her transcripts as missing. She called and said that they had received everything as of 10/1 and it would be 4-6 weeks from that date.

Interesting that some have already heard who applied later.

I’m not expecting her to get accepted here as her GPA falls outside their middle 50% but it will be a nice surprise if they do admit her.

i also applied on 9/27 and received no updates. i checked onestart and there it says that I am missing my senior schedule…but my senior schedule is on my transcript…hmm lol

mavericks17…the same happened to me. I had to call admissions and tell them to scroll down to the bottom of my transcript to see my senior schedule. I was accepted 5 days later.

Anyone else find it frustrating that WE have to walk these schools through their own process? Not as if the process is not stressful enough!

Same thing at our house…called admissions last wed and was told that even with some accepted students, the site is showing missing senior schedules. Saturday got the first of three acceptance letters. Hope yours is as fast. The ssa application was on one-start the same day.

I hope it was for all three of your triplets, oh my goodness you have a big job there! When did they first apply?

"And those who have been accepted, can you post your stats? XD "

DS just got an email for DA into Kelley - woo hoo!
33 ACT and 4.15 GPA

now we wait for Hutton? And in his link it did say Jan. for Housing. Good luck to you all~

D received her acceptances today. App went in mid Sept but due to problems with HS transcript materials were not sent until 3 weeks ago. Acceptance appeared with the note about the SSA. SSA is not in Ds email box yet.

D is thrilled to have this weight off her shoulders. She needed some good news as school is very stressful this year.

Does anyone know if the SSAs are worth much scholarship wise?

Stats…D has a 2120 SAT and GPA of 3.9. She is an IB candidate.

Can you still be qualified DA to Kelley if you are not invited to SSA with acceptance?

nellieh…SSA application will be in SIS account under financial aid section

As to the question about worth of ssa, depends on which ones you are qualified to apply for…on ssa is asked which scholarships she wanted to be considered for and was given three choices… You could then look up each one to check dollar amounts… When we get our next two, I will have comparison data . We applied week of Labor Day with all supplemental in end of sept. and one out of three acceptances. Days ssa was in box day of acceptance.

Thanks Yankees.
