Are you guys going to preseason this year?Or @samantha did you go last year?
I’m thinking if I should go. I’m not really a sports person but just want to get to know some people before school starts.

GO TO PRESEASON. It gives you a chance to meet people and get settled before classes starts, not to mention a ton a fun. It’s like summer camp sorta. So yes, I went last year, and will be going again next year. I run all year (cross country, indoor & outdoor track) so I like to get a head start in cross country.

What sport are you interested in? I know a lot of people who just join the sport for preason (it’s really fun) with no intention of continuing it for the entire season, so that’s cool too.

I’m thinking field hockey, but do you have to be really good to do it ? We don’t have a hockey team at my school so I only play it for a few weeks each year during PE…

If I come for preseason, will I stay in the same dorm room for the rest of the year?

Field hockey is fun, I know tons of people on the team. There’s JV and Varsity, so if you’re new, or not so wonderful, JV is there if you want to continue it throughout the season. And yep, you’ll be in the same room for the rest of the year.

Looking at the rooming lists downstairs, it seems as though most of the new students will be rooming with other new students, if that helps you any. Preseason is a blast because you get to hang out with friends like all night after sports, no study hall or anything. Though my dorm next year is separate from the others, I will probably be spending the entire time in a friends room in the main building cause I want to be able to stay there late :slight_smile: It’s good though to get your room all settled before classes start!

Hey guys! I just came across this thread again… Placement tests sent in!! So now im just filling out forms… I was also debating whether to go to preseason… The thing is, im NOT an athlete… I did track and softball for a couple years but thats it. I dont really see myself doing a varsity sport… Would it be smart to go to preseason anyways?? Im so excited!!

I’m not really an athlete either (JV bball for 2 years and that’s it) but I’ve signed up for preseason. Actually I will be surprised to find anyone less sporty than me XP. I just thought it would be nice to find my way round places and know more people before school starts officially. Besides, the off-season training should get me fitter before preseason starts.
Which grade will you be in btw?

@bluedots
Thats true… I dont think im going to go to preseason, though it does sound smart xP Im a dancer, if that counts as a sport but other than that im probably less sporty than you! Ill be a sophomore… how about you?

I just stumbled on to this thread and it kind of has me scratching my head in wonder. I was at Exeter '68-'71. Back then Emma was THE girls school. “Brains, beauty and bearing” was an Exie description of Emma Willard ladies used from the '30s. These days it seems that Emma is a best kept secret. What gives? What happened?

@lecloche: What happened? The 1970s happened. Many, many schools (and colleges) that were single gender chose to become coed. I believe I even read or heard somewhere that Emma even considered it. So now girls have many more choices. Emma is still a fantastic school, but there are many more choices for girls now. A friend of mine who was there in the 70s and has been back fro reunions says it’s been beautifully updated. There’s plenty of research to support girls-only schooling, but it’s not for everyone and there are so many schools to choose from. But Emma may still be the most beautiful.

I will be a boarder if I get is a slim chance. That’s all I think about all day and night. I really want to get in!

russgirl, I am Russian too:) And currently applying to Emma Willard!
