that sounds great!!!

isnt IUB need blind ??

Yes it is.

it is totally need-blind. applying there I didn't send any financial info. i was admitted and now i'm applying for finaid (sent the app today).

jesus, financial aid for 500 euros? i could pay that off of one week i make from my crap paycheck. but asside from my ass comment, can anyone tell me about the german system, like when is stuff due, and about summer programs, or just general info, i cant seem to find any on the web, replys in german are alright, being i can read it and stuff.

Someone tell me, for round II, is Feb 1 the deadline for all components to reach IUB? Or is it only a postmark deadline for my part of the app (like US univs), i.e. can I submit my app tomorrow (Feb1) and the other stuff can come a few weeks later?

Cuz i wanna apply round II rather than III.....

The deadline is for REACHING. But it is a little flexible. I was in the same situation with round 1, I called on 29 November and asked them about this. The admission asistant told me it was ok if the materials reached them in a few days. Call them and find out!

Does IUB offer aeronautical/aerospace engineering? Which country offers better aero eng. courses? France or Germany? IUB compared with France top engineering school like SUPAERO, which is better?

And those degree/master from Germany and France, are they recognized worldwide? Will it be a problem in language if i wan2 work in the US with the qualifications i got from Ger/FR?

ok can somebody tell me if IUB needs u to know German

Nope, absolutely no german required. I visited the campus and many people don't even speak German after a year or so, but those are special cases. All the courses are in English, but German is a plus if you want to get a job outside the campus (imagine all those natives speaking only German...)

Hey Guys!
Ian, I don't know muich about german system, but IUB seems to use american.
Bulloid, unfortunately IUB doesn't offer aeronautical/aerospace engineering. Here's their undergrad majors list:
-Biochemical Engineering
-Biochemistry and Cell Biology
-Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
-Chemistry
-Computational Science
-Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
-Geosciences and Astrophysics
-Mathematics
-Physics

humanities:
-History
-History and Theory of Art and Literature
-Integrated Social and Cognitive Psychology
-Integrated Social Sciences

akash come on man, DON'T APPLY. IUB is the worst place to study in. You deserve something a LOT better than that.

MIT, for example.
but everyone has to have some safity places...

meder,
an upcoming major for the humanities will be:
IPS (International Politics and History)

a whole lot of people are going to transfer from ISS to IPH..

meder, what were you thinking?? :p that was just a joke (akash is a VERY strong applicant and will probably end up getting accepted = one less place for us lesser mortals!). IUB is a great place! :) NOT a safety at all....

okay, now help me -
They want an english proficiency proof. Now I don't have toefl, so I planned on using SAT I or II Writing scores (with the fact that I've done 12 years of schooling in English). BUT my SAT I is really bad (1250) and SAT II math is just 640... I was planning on sending ACT scores which are fine... do you think that sat I will decrease or eliminate my chances? Other parts of the app are quite strong (national, international awards and stuff....) BTW my SAT II writing is 710 and physics is 730 so yeah that isn't great either :( Should I send SAT scores AT all ??

man, Stauch! you know a lot about this university. i guess your IUB student friend as a kind of a very good friend.

hehe,
yeah i've been there quite a few times and will be there again in march (BRIMUN!!!)

if i had not been forced to do community service (as a substitute for serving in the military) i would have applied to IUB myself..

BTW, who of you is going to come to BriMUN? IT IS HELL OF FUN!!
+ you can see the campus, meet the students, staff and so on.. it is an opportunity..

btw it just so happens that my good friend is a chair and director of admissions for BRIMUN 2k5, and she said that there are still a lot of countries available.. SO, if you can gather 4-6 people just FORM A DELEGATION AND COME!!

www.brimun.org

hope to see you guys there :P

hey,
sorry mercurysquad, it seems that we posted at almost the same time and i couldn't notice your post. your SAT is not that bad, but sending ACT is, of course, more preferred. My SAT also wasn't good (a lil' worse than your) but I'm accepted. Think yourself.

Stauch, unfortunately I'm not going to be able to participate. Out Nationals are in March and Kyrgyzstan is pretty far from Germany.

Hmmmm i'll send both in then. Btw can you guys look up my stats please? :) I wouldn't mind a few views on my propspects for IUB! It seems like a great alternative to U$A... plus it's Germany- the place to be for science/engg.

My stats are at: www. p r stats.com/2009/display.php?user=mercurysquad (remove the spaces)...

SAT verbal: 560 (****!)

SAT II: pending (taken in Jan, hence 2 late for MIT, CAltech, n Stanford)

TOEFL: 287 (cbt)

AS-level: thinking skills-A
Physics-A
Chemistry-A
Maths-A

2003 Malaysia National Olympiad Mathematics Competition(Senior Devision)

2003 Malaysia National Physics Competition(High-School devision)
-Gold Cert, 13th place

2004 Malaysia National Physics Competition(Pre-U devision)
-Silver Cert

how's my stats? any chance on getting into the top uni in USA?
Will my SAT verbal affect a lot? n wat bout my late SATII score for asessment?? Do u guys think MIT n Caltech will still look at my SAT II score? Can i use my AS-level results to substitute them?
