Any news about the FA packages? Jacobs is the only college that has accepted me, so I’m super nervous.
BTW, anybody here going to Information Management & Systems or Logistics?

I’m from the US and didn’t get enough scholarship money, so I won’t be able to attend :(

@prostozina: dw, hopefully, you’ll get a nice grant! :)

no news about fa so far.

@cia: same here! i wanted to take information management and logistics, but went for electrical engineering and computer science instead. we can switch later if we change our minds, right?

Any news on FA packages? How long will Jacobs take now?

hey i have a question to you guys, if anybody knows anything about this. from what ive read, financial aid packages of jacobs consist of a lot of loans and on their website, they talk about something like tuition postponement. does anyone know what tuition postponement exactly is? it sounds like we don’t have to pay the tuition until later (when we have a job or something). if thats the case, whats the point of taking a loan, if we dont have to pay until later. or am i misunderstanding the whole thing. (so confused :D)

also im wondering how non-eu people are supposed to take loans from a german bank. is it mandatory to stay in germany or something till we repay the whole thing?

I think loans = tuition postponements, but I’m not sure…

I don’t think internationals are expected to take loans from German banks; on Jacobs’ website it says that students are advised to search for loans in their countries to substitute tuition postponement, because it may have better terms.

And we don’t need to stay in Germany after graduation.

Yeah, tuition postponement is loans. Jacobs is known for giving large amounts of loans.

Somebody said that FA packages will be up at the end of this week but this week is gone now. Only 10 days remain till enrollment deposit deadline and FA packages are still not up yet. Don’t know why they are taking so long!!

That’s the reply I got from admissions, that the packages will be sent out ‘later this week’.

Hi guys, Apologies for late response. I didn’t really check the thread as I expected you to post queries on the FB group. Regarding FA package, mine took a week after my documents were received. Loans are a big part (30-40%) of Jacobs financial aid. Those worked about low scholarship, Jacobs is decently generous with grants as well. Even without FA, it’s lot more cheaper than US pubic universities for non-state students, so you can’t really complaint. I’m hope you all get generous financial aid. And, if possible, take the conversation to the FB group.

thanks @sat456 @prostozina if it means i have to take the loan in my home country, im screwed!!

No @shinodarocks, you don’t have to take loans from your home country. Jacobs will give you the loan.

FA packages are up guys!!

A very disappointing package for me I got a huge amount of loan :(

wow my efc for 1 year is more than what my family can pay for the whole 3 years. this is seriously messed up :/

arrgh should i email them about it or what, seems like they totally misunderstood my case.

They increased my EFC by 1000 euros. Plus, a huge amount of loan. What should I do? Should I talk to them about my EFC?

The same here There is no way I can afford that. The loan is huge, and maybe I’d think about it if it weren’t for EFC, which there is no way my family can pay :(

Hey people! I can relate with you all. A huge EFC which my family will never be able to pay and the loan makes me want to cry. Maybe this time, Jacobs’ funding has gone seriously low. Console yourselves. We will be great eventually.

I’m sorry about this, guys! At least we’re not alone… Are you still planning to attend?

I can’t say that the package is really exciting, but it is within my ability to pay, so yeah, I’m gonna attend! :D

Cia3194- How was the loan amount for you? I got 7500 euros in loans and I guess that’s huge. Plus the interest rate is huge too.
