I’m not a sporty person so I think debate will suffice especially if one is looking at going to Worlds with a largely unrecognised team. Which other universities did you guys apply to?

Hey you guys just make it harder to wait. The remaining months seem so long!
I like debating too, even though I prefer “discussing”. I have checked the handbooks of several programs in which I am interested, and I found that doubing isn’t that difficult as long as the two you choose are in one school.

I know right…though it’s going to be hard to look for people based on their CC usernames @stevenlyan well either way I hope you join the debate team. The campus is beautiful thoug…from what I’ve seen. Besides majors what do you guys plan on doing when you get to Bremen. The freshmen I ask about Jacobs seem to stress the fact that it is very quiet…and I like a little fun from time to time.

@ChavXO I’m applying to a lot of universities, don’t remember the count :P. The ones that I remember are Brown, Buffalo(Accepted), Cornell, Claremont Mckenna, UPenn, UChicago, Purdue(Accepted), UMich(Accepted), Drexel(Accepted), Lehigh, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, UIUC, HKU, HKUST, CUHK, NUS(not applied yet), NTU(Not applied yet), SMU(Singapore management university, not applied yet), Jacobs(Accepted), URichmond(Richmond scholars semifinalist), Trinity college, some Russian universities(Not applied yet). You?

As far as non-academic endeavours are concerned, Hamburg is half an hour away and Amsterdam and Berlin are roughly two hours. I plan to explore Scandinavian and eastern europe on weekends during my three years in Bremen. You guys?

That is A LOT of applications…how much was that in application fees? I applied to Yale (rejected), UChicago (deferred), Jacobs(Accepted), Brown, Reed and Swarthmore. Quite an awkward combination but each school has its perks vis-a-vis what I look for in a school.

@ChavXO Yeah, that amounted to al lot of application fee(I don’t want recall the financial loss). So, what is it that you look for in a school?

Well they have to care about Undergrads, I don’t want a research heavy institution that will just treat you like another number. Secondly, it has to be liberal…and liberal arts like. I’m very liberal myself and I detest conservatism in most of it’s forms. Which is why I kept away from Dartmouth. Thirdly, they have to have a very good debate team that travels (or at least potential to have on moulded up and endowment for the trips). Ideally, I’d like to go to a World Universities final cause I don’t think it’s fair that Australian and English universities dominate the circuit. So wherever I go, I want to be on my “Suit and Tie *****” :D, so generaly good EC’s 'cause I’m a hands on, social person and lastly rigorous academics I love to be kept busy and I think I’d work better with late nights.

@ChavXO for me the university had to be liberal but also research intensive, should have loads of undergrad research opportunities, excellent and intensive academics, diverse student body, smaller class size, good student faculty ratio, decent sports involvement, and last but not the least should provide financial aid and scholarship(Purdue, UMich and UIUC are exceptions, I only applied to see whether I’d be selected or not :P). It’s quite ironical that we chose two same universities despite having different perspectives of a perfect university(UChicago and Jacobs).

@ChavXO

Just hanging around the city can bring fun to me. And while entering countries around Germany doesn’t require an extra visa, I might grab the chance and make the most of it. But besides, I would like to get a job to balance my expense.

Hey guys~ Eventually I have signed up Facebook and Twitter through VPN.

My twitter: @StevenYann

It’s hotmail.

When does Jacobs University provide log in details of the application and financial aid status account after applying?

I am an international student and I have applied in Early action 2.

@SAT456

You can set your username and password yourself in the following website:

<a href=“Jacobs University”>Jacobs University;

But, it doesnot tell us about our application status. It means Jacobs doesnot have a portal, right?

@SAT546 it tells the status of both ‘Admission application’ and ‘FA application’ along with a checklist of items needed/received.

Hi! I’m from China and got accepted to Jacobs, Round 1.

Has anyone received the official admissions package yet? I got mine yesterday, but it doesn’t have an enrollment acceptance form…

Is anyone else missing it too?

@mrxerx At least, you got the admission packet. I haven’t received mine yet. Check your email ID and you’ll find the enrolment form and immunization form link in the email under the subject important forms.
Guess what, I’ll make it easier for you
