Anyone applying to the Market and Social Sytems Engineering Program?

Yeah its pretty unpredictable, since it’s a brand new program. Hopefully they do accept more people who are ED applicants.

I’m really sorry guys but im applying ed as well

It’s okay, I guess I can forgive you ;]

I have a strong feeling that given the number of spots (4+/-) it’s likely to be a lower than 50% acceptance rate…

haha yea, realistically it’ll probably be more around the normal ED rate. If I don’t get in, I’ll personalize a very similar major somewhere else…so all is not lost

This is legit making me feel antsy. Particularly because my senior year grades haven’t been particularly great; so, I feel as if ED is my only chance. Junior Year grades were about as good as my grades are going to get.

where else is everyone applying to besides penn

Bad news: ED apps rose by 17 percent, ED acceptance rate is gonna down to 26ish percent
Good news: They accept 1/2 the class ED

That means there are more like 10 spots for this major

Even though I really hope I don’t have to apply anywhere else, I’m also applying to Northwestern, Ann Arbor, Madison, maybe Carnegie Mellon, maybe Tufts, and maybe some reaches like Princeton or Stanford.

University of michigan (ann arbor), Columbia, University of Chicago, and Northwestern.

Where did you get the stats for the bad and good news holycau?

Penn’s newspaper, but I’m only conjecturing (?) about the 10 spots

I think the 1600 is basically just hypothetical. The 17% is, however, an actual statistic. I think Penn openly admits 33.33% of the Penn Class of 2015 is made up of early decision applicants.

Maybe the majority will make up Wharton applicants…? One can only hope.

Yea this kinda sucks. but in reality were applying to a brand new major/program so i dont know how much this actually bothers me considering we have no previous number of applicants to base anything off of. does anyone have a guess on how many early applicants this major is going to have

over/under 40

I applied too!

over/under 40 sounds like a good number to me.

And, SchsKid1 if you don’t mind me asking, what school do you go to? My School’s initials are SCHS.

Did all of you guy submit SAT subject tests? And if so, which subjects? I took them today, but I’m considering canceling my score, because I’m pretty sure I didn’t get an 800/790 that’s apparently expected on Math II… :/

I submitted my Math II , 790

didn’t submit sat 2s, just sat and act. looks like my 760/35 math and 32 science will probably be my downfall…

My scores are decent but I think my gpa will be my downfall. Hopefully, it doesn’t matter that much 'cause I got a 36 science and 35 math.

I just took Math II and Biology yesterday, but I was sick and ended up throwing up and passing out 2/3 through Math II. I’m seriously considering canceling my scores, but then I won’t have any…?

Thoughts?

I would think if you’ve done well on ap/ib science/math tests, act science/math sections, and rigorous science/math classes at school, you should be fine without sending them. When I visited the school, they said act=sat+sat 2s.
