I need to know whether Market and social systems engineering is tougher to get into as compared to other engineering fields.... because generally all the fields that require special essays are more selective ..

Secondly, whats tougher to get into .. penn seas or CAS?

We are not sure whether or not it is actually more difficult, but I do know that from the thread we were discussing on, only about three or so of us were actually accepted ED and many more were deferred.

We believe they’ll be holding out for the very best for Regular Decision so the company you’ll be with might be very steep, They are looking for a specific kind of person for the program, so unlike your traditional engineering major, I believe that they want more than just high science and math scores across the board but skills elsewhere as well. If you think you’d be a good fit, just apply regardless of whether it is more competitive.

However, to answer your final question: SEAS acceptance rate is 16.9%. The entire school’s acceptance rate is 18% but that includes Nursing (~20%) as well as Wharton (which we suspect to be around 10%). These are all estimates of course. I would say that “fit” means much more than acceptance rate in the long run.
