Anyone care to share what schools they got into? UC's? Private schools?

How many does Caltech take, under 200 or close to that? The important thing is to understand how truly random it gets.

UW GPA: 3.98
SAT: 2130
Math II: 780 US: 720

My scores are average for most of these schools. From what I believe, I am getting accepted not based on scores, but rather strong leadership/essays/ECs.

yea, i got really frustrated by stanford's no supplement thingy. i still sent in a senior year update a a couple newspaper articles i was in. how are we supposed to make our application holistic otherwise? seriously, students send supplements only to highlight some of the good things they do.

and yea, i'm also glad to be just trying to get into some schools. for me it's stanford and yale. hey, if stanford rejects me because i sent in those supplements, whatever. personally, i felt my application was incomplete without the supplements.

UCLA: Accepted
UCB: Accepted, (Regents Candidate)
UCSD: In
UCI: In w/ honors option
Yale: w8ing
Columbia: w8ing
Brown: w8ing
Boston College: w8ing
Dartmouth: w8ing

i feel bad for applying to UCs, i took spots away from people.

^ Ya think!?

lol We transfer students cringe whenever we hear the joyous news of a freshman getting in. Haha.

UCLA: rejected
UCD: rejected - ass whips!!
UCSD: rejected
Stanford: rejected
Boston College: waiting
NYU: waiting
UCI: waiting
Cal-Ploy SLO: accepted

I hate this waiting game..if they are going to reject you, they should let you know early.

wait, how do you know if stanford rejected you already?
they haven't released decisions...

Early decision.....

It's good that you actually sent Stanford your supplements! I sent like one additional letter of recommendation but I don't think that's going to help much. How are the applications for Yale like? Do Yale and other ivy schools give interviews?
Yes, it's good for trying! I just read a post that was asking if it was a bad idea not to apply to the ivy schools... Haha, so no regrets for me...

And do you mind sharing some of your ECs and/or leadership with us? I'm really curious...And maybe people here could tell you what a chance you got for Stanford!

I think some schools are more encouraging than others...and that's kind of nice since college application is such a nervous experience.

Congratulations on the people that got into UCs! Although it is kind of sad that top apllicants don't go to most schools they accepted into, I have to say that they still truely deserved being accepted and they have the right to make the best decisions.

Congradulations on being accepted to UCLA and UCB! How did you become the Regents Candidate? Did you apply 4 Regents Scholarship or does it come with the application?

And could anyone tell me what kind of chances I might have 4 UCB?
I'm thinking it's not going to be high since I got turned down by UCLA, so if most of you agree, then I'd want to get mentally prepared for next week (and trying not to post anything stupid), also deciding what college I might want to attend.

Here it is:

SATI: reading/520 math/660 writing/530
SATII:Biology M/620 Math Level 2/ 640 American History/570

3 AP/Honor this yr: Calculus AB, AP Bio, Physics Honor

EC: lots of science fair awards including International Fair 3rd award, 2 times County Fair 1st awards, 2 times school fair 1st awards, one regional award, 3 dept awards from schools, and some other school honors...

2 yrs of independent science research at institutions (for science projects), summer intern at UCB bioE dept, southern california science academy this yr, CSF 2yrs, ETS 3 yrs, red cross club 1 yr, school tutoring this yr

I have been in United States for 4 years (exactly as for today!), start in US High school in freshmen yr, I took some classes every summer (except the last) at community college to improve my English.
I did kinda mention my foreign background in personal essay, but I mostly focus on describing my family harship and how that affected me. The UC essays are rather word limited. And the other essay I focused on my path and interest in science.

I applied for bioengineering major by the way.

Thanks!

Well, you might have a chance for Berkeley, but your academic record should have been a little stronger. Your academics are strong, but engineering is a tough field to get into. The strongest applicants get into Berkeley engineering.

Considering you're going for engineering and you have experience, I think you could be at least a spring admit (but I would say hold off on jumping up and down until decisions come out).
