Anyone considering Catholic University?

my bro is a sophmore at cua and i have visted on numerous occassions to spend a few days in dc. I have never not felt safe on cuas campus, the metro is right on campus, and campus police reguarly patrols the area. Of couse, brokylan is not the best of areas, and i wouldn't roam off campus alone at night, or even in the day. But my brother is a frequent visiter of the CVS a few blocks down-and often goes alone. ITs different for a girl though, and you dont ever want to be alone in any city. but at my visits to cua i feel that the secuirty is very good at their job

Our D is considering Catholic. The school sounds great, but safety is a huge concern. Any thoughts on safety at CUA?

opmsma: I left you a message on your other thread about safety. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the info on safety. We'll be visiting this summer.

My son is considering Catholic University. He wants to study Biomedical Engineering, and we see that it is offered there.

He loved taking the Metro when we went to DC on vacation last summer, and loves the fact that he can take a train anywhere from there. Husband works in Maryland often, so we would get to see him some.

Want to make sure he can live on campus the whole time, as we don't want to send him with a car, can't do that in DC anyway, and are concerned for safety.

We live in New Orleans, and he attends the local Jesuit school.

Unfortunately, Georgetown doesn't have biomedical engineering, so we have to break from Jesuit for that, but we would really love for him to go to a Catholic college, as he's gone to Catholic school all his life.

Dad went to Tulane, and I went to University of Miami, so we have no alumni connections.

Do they give merit aid? Doubt we'll qualify for need aid, although we definitely can't afford the tuition without any help, even though the government will think we can.

Any feedback will be most helpful.

I think CUA has really good merit aid. Don't quote me, but I heard it may be automatic schollys for a certain benchmark.
