Anyone decided yet?! :)

I committed to Northeastern! (Can you tell by my username? Lol)
I put my deposit down this morning and filled out the housing survey. Has anyone else decided to commit yet? If so, where are you from and what are you most excited about?
I'm from Texas and I'm most excited about getting out of my element and going to Boston, taking courses that interest me, and doing co-op and study abroad!

I’ve decided on Northeastern! I’ll be studying International Affairs.

I’m from New Hampshire and grew up visiting Boston so I am wicked excited to be able to live in one of my favorite cities but still have a nice campus feel. And with IA, how can you go wrong with such an emphasis on global learning?

What are you majoring in?

I’ve committed as well and put down my deposit. I was very interested in Northeastern primarily due to the co-op program and being so strong in career services, and then I went to the open house and fell in love with the school. Got accepted EA with Honors and a nice chunk of $, and was going to wait for UPenn RD before committing, but I thought about it and realized that even if I got into Penn, I’d probably still attend Northeastern.

I’m a CS major from suburban CT, 45 minutes from NYC. Grown up around a city my whole life, but super excited to be living in one! I’m an outdoors guy as well, so it’s nice to be a bit closer to good skiing and hiking opportunities in Boston vs NYC. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

@Bourque461, I’m doing international affairs as well! :slight_smile: I seriously cannot wait until study abroad!
@ctcsskier, I was in a similar mindset. I was thinking about waiting for my original “dream” school before committing to Northeastern but I figured that school would not give me 1. nearly as much merit aid as Northeastern, and 2. such a quality education combined with such quality experiential learning!

Can’t wait to be in Boston, as I have no experience living within such proximity to the city!

Ahh, I’m hoping to commit as long as the school is affordable for me and my family…

@jibler, best of luck!

@NEUgirl

That’s awesome! Do you have an interest in one specific region?

hey guys! I forgot my NEU username. Is it a specific format or did we create it ourselves?
Thanks

@juliachristi55 To check admission status it was the ID number, but I think the myNEU user is lastname.firstinitial

@bourque461 not yet! I’m thinking maybe something like a Middle East concentration, but who knows! What about you?

Paid the enrollment and housing deposits yesterday! :slight_smile: Got accepted into the University Scholars Program, which made NEU affordable for my family. I’m so excited, it’s my dream school! I’ll be majoring in International Business-German.

Congratulations HopefulOklahoman! My daughter is in her second year as a University Scholar. It’s a wonderful program with many benefits. I wish you the best of luck, enjoy Northeastern!

@HopefulOklahoman

That’s awesome! I was accepted as a Scholar as well and am so grateful that Northeastern is my top choice.

Will you be at the welcome event in March?

Oops, I also meant to include this in my previous post:

@NEUgirl

I haven’t decided yet, but I’d love to continue my studies with Spanish. I know that there isn’t a formal concentration in a Spanish-speaking region, but that might govern a lot of my eventual decision. Maybe I’ll add a minor or do a dual major, who knows?

@cerj002 Thank you so much! I’m so thankful for the opportunity, and I hope I enjoy it just as much as your daughter.

@Bourque461 Congratulations!! And yes, I absolutely will be there in March.

@Bourque461 that sounds like a good idea! The good thing is that you can’t add any double majors or anything like that until you meet with your advisor, so we have time to think about it!

Are you guys wanting to do four year program or five?
I know you don’t have to decide right away, but it’s something I’ve been thinking about lately!

Edit: forgot to say, congrats HopefulOklahoman! That’s awesome! :)

Hey, just a quick question! Would you mind sharing what your stats were so I have an idea of my chances? Do you think NEU will accept a student who has a high SAT score that can make up for a low GPA?

@Jenny

If you read through the EA decision thread, there are tons of stats you can find there, as well as a few official stat threads.

Specific to you, yes for sure. In fact, that was a very common profile of accepted people.

Hey! Thanks for responding. But since I’m interested in Pharmacy there…do you think I still have a shot? It seems like people with really high GPAs only get in. Would you happen to know? That’s why I’m considering applying into a different major, but I don’t know. Any advice? Congrats on your acceptance!!

Oops sorry I thought you were the girl who got accepted…

No sweat haha. I was accepted with pretty much that same profile you first mentioned, though not to the Pharmacy program, which I have no knowledge of. I didn’t look at any Pharmacy trends as a CS major, but I know a general trend was high test scores certainly could overpower a mediocre GPA. I had a 34 ACT but only a 3.63 weighted GPA. So in general, you look like you have plenty of a shot depending on how high your test score is.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful, hopefully someone else will see this and know exactly how much harder it is to get accepted to pharmacy program.
