Anyone participating in the Day of Truth? (www.dayoftruth.org)

sorry, but there is no way in hell i would ever participate in a day that's sole purpose is to convert gay people into straight people. i believe people should be accepted for who they are.

i watched that video on the website. they have people labeled as "former lesbian" and "former homosexual". i think it is completely wrong to convert someone to a different sexual preference. the people who organize that day don't seem to realize that people also have the right to a sexual preference. i think that those people need to respect people that are different from them and be more accepting in general.

Wow.

Let's do some math. 1100 students/350 schools = 3 students/school.

And I like how everyone in that video was white. It definitely appeals to a wide audience.

Oh and the rap in the beginning was awesome. So relevant, and still so hip.

After the day of silence last year, our principal banned the Day of Truth, saying that while the DOS promotes tolerance and equality, the DOT promotes hate, injustice and ideals that appeal only to a very narrow mindset.

cowtipper, i agree...it would be better to accept people for who they are

intresting how the DOS promotes "tolerance" however, when soone with a differnt opionion wants to have a day your principal said "no" hmm seems like he was not being very tolerant!

DOS = encourage acceptance
DOT = attempt to force repentance

Big difference, I'd say.

encourage acceptance of other viewpoints

That's disgusting...

yeah I gotta say, I'm pretty much against any type of social criticism such as day of silence, doens't seem necessary, you won't change anyone's mind either way.

but this is stupid, intolerant, and offensive.

I think Day of Silence is stupid. What is not talking going to do? Nothing. And it isn't even just gay people doing it, at my school it was everyone in GSA. I dunno, pointless. It would be better to put posters up and have meetings or maybe an assembly. I didn't even notice that those people weren't talking either, somoen told me anbout it today.

Wabash...why do u want to convert gays? they are happy this way. they didnt choose to be gay and there is nothing u can do to change them. the impulses toward the same gender will always be there. u cant be converted to BE gay. i know ur an expert at this debate and u have a way of saying absolutely nothing of substance and yet making it sound like ur making a point...but the point is all u want to do is make people abide to ur standards of what u think Christian morality is and i think you should stop trying to homogenize the planet and let people be who they are you are sickening thanks.

no, this is about tolerance of everyone's viewpoint; mine and yours.

mcz, what's gross?

yeah, no way in hell i would ever participate in the Day of Truth...

Wow, like 1/4 of our school did DOS...
DOT seems to try to convert people to a society of homogenity.

no one here did anything

that suxx

I think that is full of crap people should be who they are. If someone chooses to be gay then thats their descision, why would you try to change someone's on belief.

i agree with that (although I have other feeling on this topic I am not going to bring up not to cause contraversy)

No I am definitely not doing this travesty of a 'protest'. That being said, I really could care less if gays want to marry or not..or whatever. I am pretty laissez faire on this matter, but I certainly am no big fan of it.

I demand you bring it up and cause controversy.

I'm also kind of surprised at how offended people are. I fully support the Day of Silence (you can go read what I wrote about it), but I'm surprised no one has ever been exposed to anything like this.

You want to see some real crazy stuff... go to godhatesf**s.com (that would be a derogatory word for homosexuals hidden behind the asterisks). They came all the way from Kansas to protest at our middle school. We had all these country flags hanging around the middle school, and some teacher put up a gay pride rainbow flag. HUGE deal, big controversy, rah rah rah.
