Well, there are a few areas where Rutgers is among the best of the best. Maybe the same is true of Florida.

I’m not a fan of Florida, but in defense of it, it’s not a bad school. There are a lot of good state schools, i.e. University of Texas, Texas A&M, University of Virgnia, UCLA, UCB, University of Wisconsin-Madison, William & Mary, University of Michigan, University of Washington… An Ivy or other private university isn’t for everyone and it doesn’t mean someone didn’t work hard.

^ take out Texas A&M and you’re basically right.

Think how many smart people there are (or must be) in the world. Now think how many places there are at the Ivies or whatever your cutoff of good schools is.

The first number is bigger than the second number, and if you don’t think so you’re an idiot. Now where are all those smart people supposed to go? Not college? Community college? There’s just not enough spots for them all, so be happy that those people don’t care about Ivies/private schools/whatever and are applying and going to state schools, because if literally all intelligent people only applied to Ivies your chances would be like 1%.

LOL!!! I only feel that way when people work their asses off in high school and easily have the stats to get into a better school. But I get what point the OP is making he went to a state school and is making fun of the people who made fun of him cause he went/goes to a state school.

Most probably stay in their home country, outside the US.

And you have to remember that there are quite a few people that would rather be considered smart at a state school than average at an ivy. In my school district 60% of the top ten students from each school in the class of 2011 are going to UT.

Why didn’t you just say 6 of the top ten…?

I kind of agree with the 75% acceptance thing though. “OMG, I’M NOT ONE OF THE 25% WHO GOT REJECTED!”

Or Cal states, haha. “OMG, I GOT INTO CSUN!”

Not to be a snob or anything.

^^ Because in the whole district there are four schools graduating seniors and 24 of the students in the top ten at their respective schools are going to UT.

Wow, what a racist.

chill the hell out you bastards i didnt need 4 or 5 of yall correcting me? lol and florida’s actually a pretty decent state school so idk what youre on man.

Did you get this from a Law and Order episode? Because I remember one topic with a range like this.

The number 1 at a State School could easily be smarter than the 90th percentile and down at a Top Private…many go because of the financial aid that State Schools can give…

So what?

So I could have said 24 out of 40 but 60% was easier. Anyways the point is there are a lot of people that could go to a much better school but choose to go to a state school.

University of Virginia, University of Texas, University of North Carolina , and my state schools are the only ones I’m looking into and I’m only applying to my state schools because I will get a full ride.

6 is easier than both of those
