Anyone else ****ed about the Cornell Supplement?

Anyone else having trouble answering "please choose and discuss a quotation or personal motto that reflects your values and beliefs and tells us something about the kind of person you are"? This is so open ended..

I wouldn't be too worried about the online supplement DarkStar, as long as they post it sometime before November 1. It is annoying though that it's taken them so long to get the transfer stuff up.

ok ok important question guys! would love it if someone answered!

it says an "Instructor evaluation form" is required, but are professor reccomendations required/reccommended in addition? or will they get PO'd by the extra fluff?

Huh? The instructor evaluation is the professor recommendation.

Instructor = professor

If you're asking if an extra one would be extra fluff, then it is only advisable to send in extra recs if they really add something important about you. Not more of the same.

oh ok
I thought maybe it referred to an evaluation form, where the professor checks off stuff in boxes like in high school and sticks that paper in addition with the letter of recc
so only one professor reccommendation, right?

Yeah they fill out the form and do the ratings, and then there is a section where they are asked to tell the admissions committee something about you. Most professors just attach an additional sheet for that (the recommendation).

Is it true that they don't look at the application until it is complete, supplement and all? Or do they start going through applications once they get the first part?

I'm pretty sure most schools don't start reviewing an application until the file is 100% complete.

I submitted my commonapp but I haven't submitted the supplement since it's not out yet. So should I pay the application fee now or when I submit the supplement? Or does it not even matter?

Doesn't matter.

But seriously, take your time with the supplement essays. There's absolutely no need to submit the app this early unless you're applying for spring '09 admission.

I'm applying for spring '09 and have had my essays done for a while. That's why it's frustrating that the supplement isn't on CommonApp yet, especially since the filing period is Oct. 1st to Nov. 1st.

I think they start processing the application materials as they come in, but they wait until they have everything together to review it.

Just for future reference:

I called admissions and they said that they don't start filing the application until the fee is paid. So, pay the fee right away instead of waiting.

You are correct...the college admission committee will only read a complete file.
