Anyone else here disappointed about the March 9th score?

I thought I was going to get a 2200 something but to my surprise, I got a 2170 (700 M, 730 W, 740 R). The disappointing thing is, on all five practice tests I've taken I've gotten high 770s or 800s on math so I have no idea why I did so poorly.

Anyone else down in the dumps over their SAT score?

Goodness, everyone on here gets 700s or perfect scores in like everything. Look at you, getting freaking Brown and Cornell scores and all that. ;D A 2170 is fabulous, though.

Math - 460
Writing - 740 (Essay - 10)
CR - 650

Am I disappointed? Yes. I cringe every time I have to see that math score, but realistically, I did not expect very much. I had scored in that range on numerous practice tests.

I am a bit shocked about CR. I expected at least a 700, I suppose, because I felt confident about tons of my answers. I think I messed up on the last passage, though.

With everyone getting Ivy League scores, I am almost ashamed to say I got an 1850 w/ no plans on retaking it. But I’m not planning on applying to any top schools, so the score should suffice.

@ionlyflyaway: I am delighted with your response. Great job! I suspect you have a very bright future with your pragmatism and outlook.

@sugarandspice: I’m all for aiming for the stars and falling a bit short vs. aiming for a pile of dung and hitting it, but being self-depreciating about your 2170 is overkill. That’s a fantastic score, and if it’s short of your goal, no one on these forums will criticize you for trying to improve. So, get out of the dumps, celebrate your fantastic score, and plan for your next one to meet or exceed your goal of a 2200. Being depressed doesn’t suit your logon name, sugarandspice! :)

I can truly understand how one may be disappointed by the test scores if it goes under their expectation. Nevertheless, it happens very often. Many students got nervous in the test center setting. When your adrenaline level went high, you are not the same person doing the practice test at home. In addition, the scores would also vary by the curves. I would say if the score is within 50-80 from your average practice score, it is very much expected. You may always re-take the test if you really think you could perform better. What you really want is to get a score that reflect you faithfully and no one else understand yourself more.
My DD got her first SAT score 250 points below her practice score and her second attempt (3/9) was still 80 points below target. She would re-take it if she did not get her high target score in her first ACT received yesterday.
Treat the SAT like a video game that you have 3 lives to play. Get prepared and strive for the best each time.

I can definitely say I am disappointed. I was really hoping my math and cr scores would be much higher (750+ and 700+ respectively). I also wanted that 2200 score, which means no retaking. But since I only got a 2150… I guess I will be retaking :/

I’m pretty upset with my CR score and kind of disappointed with math. In math, I usually get around low-to-mid 700s, but I got a 690 on this. CR was absurd. I usually get low 600s, but I got a 550 on this one :(

I’m just going to be practicing a lot for the May one. Hopefully I’ll do better then. I am happy with my writing score (740). Put me in the 98th percentile :)

Got a composite of 1980. Ugh. So close to a 2000. I kind of want a 2100, but I don’t know how realistic that is.

I took it for the first time and have done better than practice tests, but I am still a little disappointed. I got 1880 composite ( 590 reading, 640 math, 650 writing w/ 8 essay). I have scored 640 in reading before, so I know I could have gotten 1900 the first time and then at least 2000+ the next.

I took it for the first time and I’m actually very disappointed. My composite was a 1930 (630 CR 670 Math 630 Writing). Math I was disappointed because on practice tests I usually get 800’s or 750+. CR i usually get above 700+ and I just did terrible. I was worried about getting above 2100+ and I didn’t even break 2000. For my June SAT I’m hoping to score above 2100+, maybe even 2200+. But I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it.

I’m really disappointed as well :(

I halfway expected the score I received, but I still want to aim higher.

CR: 690
M: 570
W: 620

My essay was really low and that was a bit surprising, but I’m trying to just roll with the punches. I’m definitely retaking and focusing mainly on my math score (eek!). My ultimate goal is to get a 1350+ for CR&M, and I would like to get 2000+, but 1350 is my main target. Chin up, everyone! And good luck! Everyone here has a bright future ahead of them!

Yup.
My PSAT predicted an 800 reading, 730 math, 720 writing.
I got a 680 reading, 720 math, 700 writing.
Math was stupid mistakes and I’m disappointed that I missed the opportunity of doing better, because this was the easiest math SAT I’ve taken.
I thought my writing would be higher because of my essay, but at least this and math were around where I expected to be.

I’m just not sure what happened for CR. At all. =P

I’m like devastated about my math score, it was a 460 like ionlyflyaway and that score is laughable, I normally do a lot better than that. I am aiming for a 1200 out of 1600 and 1800+ out of 2400 because I don’t want to go to an ivy league school. What’s upsetting is that I thought I did really well on the math (predicated a 600) and horrible on the CR and Writing meanwhile my CR was in range and Writing was in range, I know I can do better for writing, but I got tripped up and I think I can have a better essay. So, I just really need to step up math. Anyone have any tips?

March was my first time as well, and I got a 2120 (780 CR, 560 M, 780 W). I totally expected a poor math score since I’m in the midst of a four-month-long test prep course, and I knew I would do well on CR and W, but…wow. I was not expecting 780s! :D

March is ALWAYS the hardest test of the year. My score went up 200 points from the march score, without studying. If you’re unhappy with your score, people usually score better in other months and obviously the second time they take it, so try again!

Usually scored high 600’s - low 700’s under heightened practice test conditions, this one scored 2 borderline 600’s and one high 600.

At first I thought something was up with this one specifically, but it seems like this sort of thing happens for every test administered.

I expected at least 50 points higher. My CR was an awful 620. 2170 isn’t too bad for the first time, though. Time to throw my full weight behind reading. Woo…

Did anyone think the test was hard? Easy? What about the individual sections?

My daughter was also expecting 80 points higher.

The CR was freakin hard. But I’m glad I got a 670. Though I was hoping for a 700+

Math was insane. I usually score 780… got a 740 :(

I thought CR was hard, but I got what I normally get on practice and Math I thought was easy, but I did horrible :(. I struggled on Writing slightly, but I did okay still, I was satisfied. I’m also in 2 SAT prep courses so, I’m hoping to improve a lot.
