I have been accepted to Goucher! hurray. However I'm not sure where I'm going yet. I'm still waiting to hear from a few more schools (that I probably have no chance at). If anyone wants to talk about Goucher or whatever, I'd be interested.

I got in. They gave me a pretty nice scholarship so it's attractive financially but I haven't heard from my other schools yet so I don't know where I'm going.

Actually, that's similar to my situation. I applied to Goucher as my "safety". I was only moderately interested, did have an interview though, but never visited and never looked much into it. (I realize now that at that point I was not thinking realistically about my whole college application process). I'm still waiting to hear from three schools, however now I have convinced myself that I only have a chance of getting into one of them, as the others are huge reaches. I have also been accepted to Muhlenberg College. If I'm not accepted anywhere else, I now have to choose between Muhlenberg and Goucher. At the moment I think I'm leaning towards Goucher. Both schools are offering me scholarships so I don't think my decision will come down to money. Who knows. I still don't know much about Goucher. I think I'm going to set up a campus visit, complete with an overnight & all. But if you want to talk about Goucher or whatever, feel free. At this point I really want to talk to some accepted and/or currently enrolled students at both schools in order to get a little insight.

I applied to Goucher as a safety, too. I really don't know at this point. I'm waiting for Tufts, U. Chicago, Skidmore, and Bard, but I don't think any of them are going to give me as much money as Goucher did. I'll probably go to Tufts or U. Chicago if they let me in (Tufts, if you're reading this, I love you, please marry me and accept me) but if it comes down to any of the other schools I'm going to have to make a hard decision. Going to Goucher means I'll have virtually no debt upon graduation thanks to a global citizen scholarship or whatever they call it but I really don't know if it's a good school or not. And Baltimore doesn't exactly have the greatest reputation in the world. Augh.

Yup, got in EA. I also got into Skidmore, but if they don't end up giving me the Tuition Exchange scholarship I'll be Goucher bound for sure. I like Goucher a lot. Baltimore's reputation is unfounded. It's a really fun town, actually, you just have to know where not to go considering it's reputationm for crime. Goucher is actually in a really nice upscale section of Baltimore, Towson, very little crime with a really huge hip young student population. It's nice because as you come in you see the city and everything, but as soon as you pull into the driveway it's like your deep in the woods completely cut off from civilization. The facilities are really nice too, and everyone there is really helpful and kind. I did an overnight there and I had a great time. They're having regional meetings for accepted students, I think I'm gonna go to mine in Philly to meet and discuss things with some area kids who were accepted, if they're having one of those meetings in your area you should go, I think you'll find it's a really great school. If Skidmore doesn't give me the TE scholarship I think Goucher will make me very happy.

I'm thinking about going down to visit Goucher. It's the only school I haven't visited. Then comes the hard part, deciding between Goucher, Muhlenberg, and Conn (possibly).

I'm going to visit once I hear from Tufts and U. Chicago. If I don't get into either of those--which is extremely likely--I'll go to Goucher, only because I'm sure it's at least as good as UC Santa Cruz... and the 7:3 female:male ratio don't hurt nothin' either.

I noticed that you had posted in the Muhlenberg forum too. (and I apologize for bringing this up, since you were not accepted, I'm really sorry) But what do you like more about Goucher College. I am trying to decide between Goucher and Muhlenberg.

I'm trying to decide between Goucher and Kenyon. Kenyon is really close to where I live, but Goucher has Towson Town Centre down the street. :) (Can you tell I'm female?)

Kenyon is almost a full ride, but I haven't heard back from Goucher about all the finacial aid yet. If Goucher's finanicial aid package is as good as Kenyon's, I suspect overnights at both places would be the only way for me to decide.

I think I should visit both of my schools too but I just don't have the time. I don't know what to do.

I'm going to the admitted students day at Goucher.

Supposedly it's a very nice school. Who knows.

I'd like to go to the admitted students day, but I live in Ohio so it's not all that easy. I don't have a drivers license or a car either and my guardian works. I don't know what I'm going to do either. Just wait and see I guess.

Although I was waitlisted at Muhlenberg, it was also my third choice behind Goucher and Skidmore, so it didn't hurt all that bad. I felt that the students at Goucher seemed a bit more genuine, and they were quirky in a very nice way. The Ambercrombie and Fitch world of Muhlenberg was okay, but I liked Gouchers unique style a bit more. I also like the location and campus more. Having Baltimore so close is a huge plus for a concert going, food loving kid such as myself and the campus is beautiful and surprisingly woodsy. Muhlenberg has a very small campus, and while Allentown in nice, I liked Baltimore better. They're both great schools though, and even though I got the impression that Muhlenberg had a bit more strength academically, it didn't seem to be enough to sway me.

okay, great, thanks! I haven't found many people who applied to both schools and was just looking for some other opinions. I still haven't made up my mind, but I think I'm going to Muhlenberg. I'm such an indecisive person though so I'll change my mind about 100 more times before I settle on one of them.

Cool. Muhlenberg was great too, it just depends what you're looking for. Goucher met more of my needs and wants personally, but I think Muhlenberg would be a great place to be too. Congrats on getting in by the way!

thank you! So are you going to Goucher or Skidmore?

Probably Goucher, unless by some crazy twist of fate Skidmore actually gives me the tuition exchange scholarship, even then...

You might want to do a livejournal interest search for Goucher. There is a fairly active live journal community for Goucher and they are pretty open to answering questions from prospective students. www.livejournal.com
