i still havent...i really want one tho.

DD has not been contacted either.

i still havent, either...sigh...
A guy in my school finished his telephone interview in late Jan....
Is the interview selective?

A student at my public HS had a phone interview just before the ED deadline. It was very short and the alum did not ask much. I contacted a very active alum in our area and asked if this was normal. He said NO and offered to interview the student again...which he did in his office for 20-45 minutes. If you have not been contacted, ask your guidance counselor or college advisor if they know any Brown contacts!

Does anyone know if getting an interview means that you've made an initial cut? Or do they try to schedule them for everyone?

California...and nothing.

My daughter did get an interview from Brown, but is waiting (not so patiently) to be contacted by an alum from another school with an impending deadline (for interviews). At my suggestion, she contacted that college by both phone and email to remind them that she had requested an interview. If she doesn't get one, at least they should know that she was interested. Those of you who are awaiting an interview might consider contacting Brown and letting them know you're still waiting. It wouldn't hurt.

"Does anyone know if getting an interview means that you've made an initial cut? Or do they try to schedule them for everyone?"

Interviews are theoretically scheduled for everyone. Please understand that they are handled by alumni -- your name and contact info is put on a website that a regional chair accesses; the chair then sends your contact information via email to alumni. Some alumni aren't too good at checking their email, some may be on vacation when they get it (and forgot to inform the regional chair that they would be out of town all of February), others are true procrastinators who see a March 1 deadline and think they can wait until Feb. 27 to contact you.

However, because mistakes can happen (I've seen students from one area assigned to the wrong regional chair, for example), I would definitely call admissions if you haven't heard anything yet. By mid-February, you should have been contacted.

That said, it is not held against you if you haven't had an interview.

My D hasn't been contacted for an interview in Oregon.

Nor has mine -- in So Cal

We're from NJ, and son hasn't been contacted yet.
