Anyone Else Not Get their Residential College Assignment yet?

My daughter was anxiously awaiting for the mail to come today, as she hasn't received an email yet. The US mail came with no residential college assignment letter. Are there others out there who don't know their residential college yet? She's at work all day today, but she is so wanting to know which college she will be in! Thanks!

I am still waiting for mine as well! According to Rice’s website the mailed letters were sent Friday. Depending on where you live, it could take a few days to arrive. Also, certain residential colleges don’t send emails letting their residents know they have been selected. I spoke to a few of my friends who will also be freshmen at Rice next year, a few of them haven’t gotten anything either. Don’t panic. :)

My son got his letter today. He is assigned to Brown . As a parent, should I be worried or happy about this?

I think there’s still quite a few others who haven’t heard from their college yet. Also, if she hasn’t checked her Rice webmail, she may want to do that: I got my e-mail notification (MARTEL!) in both of my inboxes, but some people have only gotten theirs in their Rice account.

Brown’s a great place from what I’ve heard! If I’m not mistaken, I think they’re known for having really nice people or something like that. Objectively speaking, I don’t think there’s any residential college that would really warrant any sort of negative reaction from anyone- they’re all awesome in their own way. :)

My daughter hasn’t received her mail yet but did get her email with her college assignment to Duncan

Make sure to check the spam in your email. All of my emails from Rice get sent to the inbox, but for some reason my greeting from my residential college (Duncan!) got sent into spam.

My daughter hasn’t gotten her college assignment either. Perhaps it will be in today’s mail.

All of the colleges are great. The vast majority of students end up happy with whatever college they’re in and are convinced it’s the best by the end of O-Week.

Thanks RedSeven. That’s what I thought. I think he may need a bike being that far notheast! :-)

I got my residential college assignment in my e-mail yesterday. I got assigned to Sid Rich.

I haven’t gotten mine yet either. It’s very disappointing, as I have been looking forward to it since I got accepted. I even live in Texas, so I don’t know how I haven’t gotten it yet. I’m hoping for Jones or Duncan (:

Still waiting…

I would call Rice if I was you. I still hadn’t gotten mine in the mail as of this morning, so I called and they said there was a hold on my account because I hadn’t sent in the health form (which I had sent in on March 6th!). We finally got them to talk to the health services people and I got my email this afternoon (Hanszen!). I talked to another person on fb who said that the same thing happened to him. Call 713-348-4997 and they’ll help you.

Thanks! I will have D call the university tomorrow. She didn’t get her meningitis vaccine until the end of June, so that’s probably the problem.

RedYellowBlue,

As the parent of a Brown graduate, I’ll say that you should definitely be happy.
Brown is great! I hope your son enjoys it as much as mine did. :)

Yep, I’d recommend a bike in general (quick trips around campus and to the village are great from anywhere), but especially coming from Brown. It’ll cut down on travel times a lot. Just get something cheap since he won’t need to go far on it and in case it gets stolen. (Bikes are probably the most commonly stolen item at Rice. They’re usually fine as long as you use a U-lock and don’t leave them by the stadium parking lot for too long, but I wouldn’t risk an expensive bike.)
